Hi

Just need a bit of a rant!

This is the second time I've been in preterm labour one at 24 weeks this one at 33 weeks. Fist time hospital were amazing however this time not so good! I came in 2 nights ago having regular contractions which were very painful and lasting about a minutes every 2 minutes staff on labour ward were great! Then all of a sudden I'm the early hours all the contractions just stopped and I've had odd ones every since. They checked me when I first arrived and I was 1 cm dilated not have another internal can I request to have one before they send me home?

I was moved to the ward the following morning and saw one midwife and one student midwife all day even though I was meant to be constantly monitored. They forgot about giving me breakfast even when mentioned and lunch I could only eat a few mouthfuls and there wasn't much choice as I'm gluten free ( not by choice I'd do anything to be able to eat a normal piece of bread! Haha). Feel extremely low about the whole situation and now my partners had to leave me to go to work because they wouldn't give him holiday for today so I'm now worried something will happen while I've got no one around :(

Has anyone else been in a similar situation to the preterm labour and still gone to term? Or is she most likely to make her arrival early?

No experience so can't add anything constructive but wanted to say good luck and hope you're okay xx

I went into labour on my due date, so I don't have experience of preterm labour. However, my contractions sound pretty similar to yours! I woke up in the night with contractions every 3 minutes and lasting up to a minute each. I woke up the next morning and they had completely gone!

When I got checked into the ward, I was severely dehydrated, and my contractions came back every few minutes. Didn't get paid attention to, or taken seriously and ended up getting sent home. My waters broke less than 4 hours later and I delivered a few hours after that!

You can request an examination, if you feel that you need one! If you can manage to walk, wards should have fruit and some other foods out all day for you. Ask your partner to bring back food, when he comes to visit you. Good luck!

At 28 weeks I went in with painful tightenings ones that took my breath away and stopped me in my tracks.
They kept me overnight gave me steroids as I had also tested positive on an ffn test which showed there was a strong possibility I could go into proper labour within the next fortnight.

I’m now 35+1 baby is holding on tight and I have no doubt it will until I get induced at 38. I am still getting the pains from time to time it all depends on how physically active I have been.

Definitely ask for another examination if your not happy leaving although I don’t think they like to examine often when your early.
But if it puts your mind at rest.

Good luck keep hydrated and if your hungry ask one of the staff to get you something x x

If the contractions have stopped there isn't really a need for you to have another examination and having one can actually stimulate the contractions to start again so I would try to avoid it if you can.
