Movement paranoia

This is my first post so apologies if I mess this up!

I am now 19+2 weeks with my first baby and as yet am not aware that I have felt anything. I have read so many different websites and forums I don't know what's right from wrong now!

We have our 20 week scan next week which will show anything up anyway but the paranoia in my head is driving me crazy!

Is this normal? Could I have felt something and not know?

I am a bit overweight so in my head think 'your fat that's hiding the baby' but I really need some reassurance.

Thank you x

I am quite slim and didnt feel proper movements until 22 weeks plus and even then I wasn't 100% sure what it was. Now I am 32 weeks and it feels like a proper human moving around in there. I wouldn't worry too much at this stage.

It's perfectly normal not to feel your first baby until after 20 weeks.

But yes you might also have felt something hung and put it down to indigestion or a funny feeling.

Don't worry in ten more weeks you'll be getting kicked black and blue.

I’m overweight too. I have properly felt baby (second DC) since about 20 weeks, often feels like he is trying to fight his way out. Although even when I went for a scan a few weeks back at 28+6 I could see him moving on the screen but not feel every movement. Just the big kicks! X

I don't think I was certain of movement with my 1st till after 20 weeks. I also had an anterior placenta so really wasn't aware of early flutters.
Remember general guidance is that movement generally starts to be felt between 18 and 24 weeks so you're still early within that. Forums can make it seem like everyone is getting kicks etc super early but that's not generally the case.

Do you know where your placenta is? If it's anterior (at the front) it can cushion the kicks so you don't tend to feel movement till a bit later. Don't worry, everyone carries differently and it's all normal! Don't think they ask you to start monitoring kicks till about 28 weeks.
