Baby pushing into ribs

Hi all,

Just wondering if anyone has any remedies for my problem,

I'm almost 35 weeks and Baby has grown so his bum is constantly pushing against my left hand side rib cage. He feels like he's going to break my ribs I cannot sit comfortably what so ever have to be sat completely straight upright for to not have the pain.

I'm also waking in tears as it feels when I'm sleeping (on my left hand side) all his weight is pushing against my ribs and causing me pain.

Is there anyway I can get him to move slightly as I cannot cope much longer 😩.

Thanks xxx

Go on all fours for a bit. May relieve it a bit.

I have a similar thing with my little one's legs constantly in my ribs on one side, even midwife pointed it out when she felt baby bump at my last visit. Unfortunately nothing we can do about it she said. Maybe speak to your midwife if it's very bad.

I’m 37 weeks pregnant and have been suffering from the same thing for 3 weeks - it’s incredibly painful.

It also doesn’t help that I’ve had a deep chesty cough for nearly 5 weeks too. I feel totally gross constantly coughing and spitting out, and really miserable and snappy.

I apparently don’t need antibiotics, and I’m only allowed to inhale steam, drink honey and lemon and inhale a bit of Vicks.

I try a combo of ball bouncing, rocking my pelvis (spell out the alphabet!) and doing some on all fours wiggling. Seems to shift the little bugger, sorry, darling ☺️

I could have written this. I'm 35 weeks also and in constant pain, begins about twenty minutes after getting up in the morning. Don't know how I'll cope for another 5 weeks

No remedy’s unfortunately but rocking on a ball and crawling on all fours does apparently give them a bit more room to move. I had this with all 3 of mine as I carried really high, none of them engaged into my pelvis until well into established labour. A warm bath might also help?

Sounds horrible but my son did this while I was pregnant and I literally just pocked him for a while he got annoyed and moved for a while ! X not sure this is advised but couldn't cope I also went on all fours and did like a circular motion.( this did set off my waters) urm but yeah ! Not too long to go !! If you try to move around as much as you can the baby should hopefully move x

You could try some gentle yoga if you're feeling up to it and are able. Cat cow is safe in pregnancy and helps to stretch out your spine and torso which may give baby more room and encourage a shift in position.

Mine loves pushing into my ribs too, I think it’s totally dependant on her position as some days it’s SO painful then other days it’s fine. I’ve found yoga and also a bath normally helps me a bit, or a hot water bottle on my ribs. Hope you feel better soon!

Thank you ladies.

I'm gonna keep exercising on my ball and try push him out, his head is already engaged which is also causing discomfort but I'm only a petite 5'3 and only weighed 8,5 before I got pregnant got a very compact bump so seems he gets wherever he has space (clearly under my ribs 😩) I see midwife next week I will speak to her and in the meantime I'm not getting off my ball!

Thanks again! Xxx

Hi OP, when I was pregnant I had exactly what you're describing. It was excruciating and j struggled to sit in my seat at work. The only thing I could do was stretch out on my back or go on all fours. It is awful but hopefully baby will move at some point for you. My girl stayed in an L shape (legs and feet in my ribs) for the whole time.
