Babys been going crazy the last 2 days, lots and lots of movement, anyone know if this could be a sign if impending labour or is it just wishful thinking?

I don't recall any difference with baby's movements apart from 2 days before he did a complete half turn to end up back to back Angry
I did have diarrhoea (tmi) and I was starving all the time - the night before I woke up at 3am and made myself 3 cheese toasties Blush then toodled back off to bed.

Any change in babies movements can be a sign of distress, it's not just if they slow down. Phone your labour ward for monitoring. Better safe than sorry.

I had 3x reduced movements and on the Wednesday night I had another one, Thursday had a scan and saw consultant and Friday I was admitted to be induced - first pessary wasn't needed until later as already 2cm.

Any change in movement get checked.

Yep. Don't believe a word about baby's movements slowing or increasing - pattern should stay the same.

If you notice a change and it goes on for a bit (hours, not days), call your health team please OP. Lots of luck, hopefully baby has just shifted a bit so you're feeling it differently!

You need to have your baby chekced obet at MAU, any change in movements need checked

Please call your maternity unit, excessive movement can be a sign of a distressed baby (not always, don't mean to scare you) but they need to monitor him to check he's just wiggly rather than anything worrying

@Dottieroses sorry to jump on this post - realise it’s two years ago! I’m 30 weeks +4. Tonight I feel like my baby hasn’t stopped for the last 2 hours which isn’t like him. I rang the Maternity assessment unit and they told me not to worry, more movement isn’t a concern only less movement!

hopingfor23 · 13/01/2023 22:29

Trust your instinct. I had increased movements and turns out the cord was wrapped around my little boys neck. Resulted in a very emergency c section and a safe delivery but if I'd not insisted on being checked and has listened to initial advice then he would not have made it. Sorry to scare you just listen to your intuition x

No worries! A slight increase in movement isn’t a concern, but if you notice frantic movement for a prolonged period of time (such as 2 hours) then that can be a sign if a baby in distress (it also may be absolutely fine so don’t panic!) but I personally would call back if you’re still getting frantic movement and say you rang yesterday with frantic movement for 2 hours and it’s happening again today (if it is) and you’re becoming very anxious about it, could you come and to be monitored please. I’m sure they’ll be very understanding and say yes. Perhaps they thought you meant generally he’s moving more, which is fine, but frantic movement for a prolonged time will have a different meaning to them when you ring. I hope it all goes well, I’m sure you’ll be reassured by monitoring and all will be fine, but always best to check. As hopingfor23 has said, always trust your mummy instinct 🙂
