Will my toddler be allowed in my scan?

Hello,
My 12 week scan will be coming up soon and both my mum and mil would like to come with me.. However I already have a two year old, so I am wondering if he will be allowed to come in too? Otherwise one of them will have to stay behind to watch my son- I know there is a two person limit but not sure if toddlers were included in that!
Thank you :)

@FranticallyPeaceful yes I have an introverted toddler so he is naturally shy and quiet, and certainly wouldn't bounce around the waiting room jumping off chairs 😳
I will call the hospital tomorrow to check with them.

My child being present (we didn't have childcare) was the excuse reason the sonographer gave for not explaining properly was wrong at my 20wk scan (severe chd). And that was with him in the waiting room not even in the scan room. I was sent to fetal medicine (half a week later) with some scary words on a piece of paper to Google. If you can leave your child with one of the relatives please consider it

I think the reason most hospitals have a no child rule is so that the sonographer isn't distracted by your child. If they missed something important you would be really annoyed.

My hospital (London) had signs in the waiting room saying no children are allowed in the scan rooms.

@LLO7 if your child is quiet then take them. It’s not like childcare grows on trees for a lot of people - what are you supposed to do exactly? Leave the kid in the car? Ask a stranger to take them? No. Just take the kid in.

It's adults only where I had my scans with a limit of one adult to accompany too, I'm sure this is because the waiting areas can be small and without enough seats if everyone brought 2+ people with them.

Frantically , childcare isn’t an issue for OP. Which will be obvious when she shows up with two grandmothers.

FranticallyPeaceful · 25/02/2018 20:39

@Parrothead wasn’t replying to OP, unless they name changed. If you can find child care then go for it, my post was aimed at if you couldn’t

My hospital only allows 1 person in with you, extra people and kids are only allowed in at the end of the scan.
Congratulations
