Terrible skin!

I am more than half way through my second pregnancy and my skin is awful. I didn't have this issue in my first pregnancy and I am running out of ideas as to how to fix it.

My face has discoloration, redness, break outs and scars easily. All of which I never had an issue with pre pregnancy. Does anyone have any product recommendations or ideas? I am sick of wasting all my money on products that don't help at all!

Sorry no recommendations but I'm suffering as well... it's worst on my back and shoulders. Hoping someone has some suggestions as it's pretty depressing and I feel very self conscious about it!

Ooft - sounds like pregnancy Rosacea- avoid oils like the plague.

Keep it simple, tea tree spot sticks, face wash and witch hazel for make up removal

First pregnancy was bad and had similar and above worked for me - anti redness cream from shops will help - boots do an own brand for rosacea and it works.

All skin is different so hope something works asap.

Well I shall waddle myself on down to Boots tomorrow then! That would also make sense in regards to the redness! At least I know where to start.

I also have issues with it on my back and shoulders - you are not alone.

Pregnancy is so bloody glamorous!

Speak to the guys in boots and ask if there is a body wash you could use that's safe in pregnancy- even a soap substitute such as Dermol may help as it's an emollient and can be used wet or dry for moisture.

I had this when I was pregnant with my son - never had problems before. I remember hearing somewhere that Sudocrem is good for breakouts so I tried it and it did seem to help a lot.
I found that in the last 8 weeks or so of pregnancy my skin looked lovely and did for a while after giving birth control but I find now that I am more prone to breakouts. Never had it before. Very strange what it does to you!
I still use the sudocrem now when I need to, it ready does seem to work for me. Worth a try! Hope this helps in some way x

I have always struggled with my skin, I got pregnant last year my skin flared, miscarried at 10 weeks, had one period and got pregnant again so my skin was a hormonal mess

About 10 weeks into the 2nd pregnancy I'd had enough so I went for a nice facial, I'd find a skin specialist and let them know your issues, they used good cleansers etc and a good steam then masques etc worked a treat to calm them!

Hope you get it sorted i know how you feel! X

Obviously tell them you're pregnant so they don't use anything harmful

I went for a facial and she put me on some expensive Elemis stuff (emergency cream or something) and it got better. But never as good as before pregnancy. I think some of us are cursed to have shit skin!!

I recommend asking a good therapist though for advice and get a good facial. It was expensive but worth it for me in the end.

Thank you for the replies. I think I'm going to book to see someone then. My mum mentioned a dermatologist but I know they cost a lot of money so wanted to try asking for advice first.

Thanks again x

Period type pains at 8 weeks? Is this normal?
Thanks, Emma x

I second the Sudacream! Slap it all over my face after a shower, I spent a lot of money on expensive skin care elemis / clarins and the sudo has been my saving grace.

CL1982 · 24/02/2018 13:18

@emma94 might be worth starting your own thread as period pains and bad skin are quite different things! The answer is yes but any serious cramping and definitely any bleeding call your midwife or GP :)
