Basically this is my second pregnancy and my midwife told me at my booking appointment yesterday that my BMI was 38!!!
With DD my BMI was 31.
I feel so ashamed of myself, although with DD I didn't have problems apart from SPD and losing a pint of my blood during delivery due to taking 1 aspirin a day, midwife has now told ill be back on aspirin and will probably have to inject myself (can't remember the name of it) to prevent DVT. Not only this but she did say "you may have gestational diabetes this time around as you're bigger. I did have the GD test with DD and all was fine. I'm so worried and panicking about this. Anyone else been on this situation?!

Please don't beat yourself up. My BMI is a lot higher than yours. I took Aspirin, injected myself with Clexane and had GD in both pregnancies. I have two healthy DC now who are both perfect weights and my DS who is 5 does taekwondo, CrossFit and swimming so definitely doesn't take after me!

You'll be fine. You'll probably end up with consultant led care and if you do end up with GD they'll induce you at 37-38 weeks or do CS, and you'll get extra scans to check baby isn't getting too big.

Concentrate on being pregnant then worry about your BMI afterwards Thanks

@ShuttyTown thank you Hun. Did you have CS or natural births? DD was natural birth but MW told me yesterday may have to have CS.

Both were CS because of the GD. First they terrier to induce me but it didn't work so ended in EMCS, with my second it was a planned CS which was much better.

Terrier Grin I mean tried

@ShuttyTown I am absolutely petrified of a CS. I would prefer to be put out for it Blush how was your healing process?

Feeling ashamed wont get you anywhere. Don’t give yourself a hard time. There’s still time for you to improve your health during the pregnancy and potentially avoid the CS.Do try to focus on health rather than weight, per se. Lots of fruit and veg is good for the baby. Maybe also look at maternity aqua aerobics?

Charlotte - I had a BMI of about 33 with my first and was also terrified of a c section. In the event it was very easy and I'm optIng for a second this time around.

I'm not saying you'll need one or that you should want one, but try not to be too worried or scared - it's really not that bad and it gets the baby here safely and quickly!
