Exercising in pregnancy

Can I ask what you all do for exercise when pregnant?

Per week I normally do the following:

2x 5km runs
1 x 10km run
2x 30 day shred videos
1 x Pilates DVD (20 mins)
General walking etc.

Is it safe to carry on with these? I'm only about 7 weeks so still in the exhausted stage but would like to carry on with whatever is safe - thinking maybe the shred DVDs minus the ab workout and maybe the two shorter runs.

Would love to hear what is working for you and at what stage of pregnancy you're at.

(This will be my third child)

I do a few classes and run a bit. And both my physio and doctor have told me it's fine to keep up with the routine for as long as I feel able. The pilates class I go to is physio run so I trust her to modify the exercises as I get further along so can't advise you on the shred sorry. My third also and feel rough at the moment.

I was wondering this myself.

Just found out I'm pregnant and exercise quite regularly. From what I've read, if you are able, you can carry on doing normal exercise routines throughout pregnancy as long as you're not over-exerting or doing anything new. Only things to avoid are particularly heavy weightlifing and ab exercises where you are lying on your back after first trimester.

Listen to your body. With the exception of extreme sports it's generally safe to carry on with what you've been doing and you'll generally feel when or if it's time to slow down.

I'm still doing general Boot camp/circuit/Metafit type classes and I'm almost 30 weeks. I've started to take out the jumps. I also try and do at least one run or swim a week but I've started to notice that running makes me need to pee all the time so I'm slowing that right down!

Good advice here from the NHS:

Thanks for these suggestions. I wish I had been a regular gym goer but I think I'll just try to keep up a combination of running and the less jumpy exercises, then move on to swimming when that gets harder.
