Don't be daft - I bet most of us thought this way! I know I did!

tis the pre birth fear

happens around now, as you remember that this will hurt

but you can cope ,and you can do it, and it will be wonderful!

of course you are not a freak, and of course you love your baby, but it is hard, and when you remember the new born phase, it does give you the chills!

will all be fine in the end, and when it isn;t, MN is here !

yes, really.. I was crazy and looking back I can see how mad I was.

lulumama · 02/05/2007 20:38

stalk away !

i remember getting this with DS , sat in the delivery room, my first baby , on the way.....and looking at the empty crib, and wanting to say, 'please can someone else do this, i am scared and not grown up enough!'

the room swam in front of my eyes, and i was really , properly petrified

second time, i was fine, up until about 38 , 39 weeks, and then remembered the baby has to come out, one way or the other, and it is going to involve some pain, and strangers putting their hands in yer fanjo!

luckily, the post labour amnesia kicks in , as you deliver !!

then you don;t thikn about it again until next time !!

lulumama · 02/05/2007 20:38

you weren;t , LTH

you articulated how i think a fair few women feel, and are afraid to say!

I truly believe I had ante-natal depression. Was utterly miserable throughout the whole pregnancy - hated the bump and baby in me, referred to it as "that bloody baby" and was terrifed in the last few weeks...

Was sooooo glad when ds2 finally appeared!! I suppose the main thing is, it will end - come what may that baby is coming out!!!! I knew I wasn't going to get PND because I'd be so bloody relieved I wasn't pregnant any more - sailed through it (not counting sleep exhaustion) after he finally made an appearance... Good luck and hope labour goes well and you start to feel human again very soon!!

either way LTH, you came through it !

there is antenatal depression, often missed, and not diagnosed, there have been a few threads about it, and rhubarb set up a website ......
