I really need help. I'm 8 weeks pregnant and I'm just finishing uni now so have no job yet. I'm currently at my Nans but she doesn't want me here, she's quite strict and isn't happy I'm pregnant and single.
I just calculated what I am entitled to with universal credits and I will get £230 a month. So that obviously isn't enough for rent. Average rent in my area is £600.
Can people please advise me :(

You will get a lot more than £230 a month universal credit, that will be based on your circumstance at the moment living with your nan. You'll probably get around £800. Try using entitledto and make up a scenario say an average rent and bills and it'll give you a better estimate although obviously you need the deposit and other things to move out first and get that universal credit claim going. Perhaps go to citizens advice and see what they can offer. Some council housing isn't actually that bad, you'll find a lot advertises that you didn't even know was council housing and if you state you're becoming homeless you will be a high priority. Even if where you move to first isn't permanent once you're on the system and have an income you can save and if you really want this baby and put your mind to it then by the time it comes round to birth I can guarantee you'll be in a much better situation and money won't be a worry. It's just getting on the system. The other option is sign onto universal credit at your nans house and get that much per month but tell her you're saving to move out and you won't be there when the baby is born. I took out a loan with my local credit union to move out because they are very kind and informal and very low interest plus some of your money gets put into a savings pot so once the loan has been paid off you get a return of savings and not so much trouble if you miss a payment or can't pay as much!

You will get help ! Look at mother and baby units for now ! And go to your local council x

Get in touch with the council, they will have helped scores of women in your situation and will be able to help you get in touch with the right people. Give the housing people at your council a call, they'll get you started. The sooner you do, the better.

Yeh dont worry too much about it. My sister was in a similar scenario. They put pregnant women right at the top of the list and will be able to find you a council place suitable :) they will or might ask ur Nan to write a letter saying she will kick u out or cant keep u there anymore (my mum had to to it for my brother)
As for entitlements there are other benefits u can look at as well.
