Flying in first trimester?

Hi all. I'm 7 weeks pregnant and before we knew I would be expecting, I booked two holidays away with my husband (one weekend and one week) that will involve flights of about 2 1/2 hours each way. I'm anxious as I suffered a MMC in October with my first pregnancy and so I don't want to take any risks. I know the science says there's no risk and I'll speak to the doctor about it too but any thoughts or experience? part of me was looking forward to the trips as they will help the first worrying time go quickly but now I'm worried! Thanks.

I was worried about this last time I was pregnant too. Spoke to a doctor who said there is zero risk.

Anecdotally, in my first pregnancy I flew at 7 and 9 weeks, that baby is three now. Flew long haul in my current pregnancy at 3 and 5 weeks (didn't even know I was pregnant), and now I'm 30 weeks and everything has been fine so far. Smile

I flew four times in my first trimester it was fine. Two long haul 10+ hours and two short haul.

I've also flown short haul twice in my second trimester. Again absolutely fine.

Only concern is increased risk of DVT, so walk around occasionally, stretch and wear well fitting compression socks.

I flew to Florida and back around 9 weeks and the only thing that happened was morning sickness. You'll be fine Thanks

I did a two hour flight at about 9/10 weeks & was absolutely fine. I checked with the midwife first & she reassured me. I did wear some travel sickness bands & made sure I had some sweets & lots of water to hand & it was fine xx

i flew to Ireland about a week after finding out I was pregnant and then 2 weeks later flew to Spain, it didn't even occur to me that there was any potential risks!
Everything has been fine and I have my 34 week midwife appointment in an hour!!!

I've been flying since very early on... Long haul flight when I was 4 & 6 weeks then regularly short 2-3h flights every other weekend. My GP just told me to wear compression socks due to the increased risk for DVT. Also due to severe morning sickness history in my family she also prescribed me some medication if it gets really bad but so far it hasn't been too bad. I'm almost 11 weeks and just flew again this weekend. The only problem was sickness but still managed.

Try to get isle seat which will help you with moving around and going to use the bathroom as often as you need :)

I flew london-sydney-london in my first trimester. Incredibly tiring for me (moreso than usual) but was fine.

It's fine. I was worried too u til I researched it. I flew to Greece and back last week. Just felt a little nauseous when landing! Just make sure you wall around a bit :)

I flew London- NZ in first trimester (25+ hours!) It was fine (I was also worried about it but people on here and my Dr reassured me). Wear compression socks, move around and keep well hydrated.
