Hello ladies, yesterday I went for a early reassurance scan at window to the womb. I was dated 5 and half - 6 weeks as we seen a heart beat but the feotus was not big enough to be over 6 weeks. I had a funny period on 29/12 I bled for 5 minutes really heavy and then nothing the day after then bled a little for a few days after that but nothing like my normal period. What I’m trying to work out is when I conceived... did I concive 5 and half weeks ago because that’s the age of the baby? It’s all very confusing

You would have conceived about three and a half weeks ago as the baby's age goes from the date of your last period.

Three and a half to four weeks ago depending on your ovulation date.

Is it possible to see a heart beat at just 3 and half weeks?

You can't see a heartbeat at 3 1/2 weeks pregnant, but you may do 3 1/2 weeks from conception which is 5 1/2 weeks pregnant and where you've been dated now.

The first 2 weeks of pregnancy are from first day of you last period to ovulation, not a time when you're actually pregnant.

I just spoke with a lady at window to the womb and she said they wouldn’t be able to see a heart beat 3 and half- 4 weeks from conception. Also I’m listed on my paperwork as 11weeks 4 days as they didn’t count my December bleed as a period

If you think you're 11 weeks pregnant but have a baby measuring 6 weeks then you should be going into the NHS system for follow up as it may be that things aren't progressing as they should.

You absolutely can see a heartbeat at 3.5-4 weeks from conception as that is the same as 5.5-6 weeks pregnant. Time since conception is not the same as how many weeks pregnant you are. You are measuring 5.5-6 weeks and have seen a heartbeat so clearly it's possible. Maybe looking back at when you first had a positive pregnancy test will help you work out if the baby's developing as it should or not.

You can absolutely see a heartbeat then. I saw mine at 5.5 weeks and I'm 11 weeks now and measuring bang on 11 weeks.

They need to be counting your bleed as a period now as you're bang on for those dates but if you're 11 weeks, something is wrong to only be measuring at 5.5

Usually you can start seeing a heartbeat somewhere between 5-7 weeks pregnant on an early scan. That would be roughly 3-5 weeks from when you conceived because on average most people conceive 2 weeks into their cycle. But how pregnant you actually are can be figured out from measuring baby. It's not very accurate so early on (for example, at 5 weeks), but they should definitely be able to get an accurate idea of exactly how pregnant you are by the time baby is measuring 8-12 weeks. All that sounds fine for an early scan. I would go by the 5 week measurement for now and assume that's how pregnant you are.
