Up until yesterday evening sprog has always felt close to my skin when having a wriggle. I've been able to make him love bit it feels more infernal so more faint, I'm not worried but should I be? Felt him about 10 mins ago a bit stronger again but not as aggressive as he usually is

Go and get checked out

Northernbeachbum · 09/02/2018 07:29

Even though I can make him move with ice water?

Always worth getting checked. May be they've found a new comfy spot and you need to adjust to those movements but getting checked out will help reassure you and it's so important.

Good luck.

Northernbeachbum · 09/02/2018 07:36

Stupid question, you say get checked but how and where? I'm only 23 weeks with my first so they've not told me what to do in siuations like this

It varies by area where you go to get checked. It may say on somewhere in your midwife notes (the pregnancy book they give you).

If it doesn’t say, just head to a and e and they can always send you on to the early pregnancy unit or the fetal monitoring unit or whatever it’s called in your area. Go to an a and e at a hospital that has maternity services obviously.

Hope it’s all ok.

You need to ring either your midwife or maternity triage at the hospital if you can’t get hold of anyone else. They will advise you better. At 23 weeks they will likely monitor heartbeat and do the usual midwife appointment checks. Definitely get checked out- in my experience they are very happy for you to come in and would much rather they saw you 400 times than they didn’t see you and something awful happened. The numbers you ring should be on the front of your notes and with the information they give you about your baby’s movements. I got all that given to me at the 16 week appointment.

Ok, just going to grab some brekkie (as that usually makes him go nuts) then call in if he's not back to normal.

Just felt him again, he wriggled hard while I typed this.....oh and again Smile

I think changed movements are really only checked by a midwife at 26 weeks but always worth a call

Northernbeachbum · 09/02/2018 08:01

I did wonder if it was too early for them to be interested

OP posts:
NoParticularPattern · 09/02/2018 08:09

No they will be interested as you are 23 weeks. But they won’t likely do a CTG, just a Doppler and general examination. You can find a link to the up to date RCOG guidelines here: www.rcog.org.uk/globalassets/documents/patients/patient-information-leaflets/pregnancy/pi-your-babys-movements-in-pregnancy.pdf

At 23 weeks I really wouldn't worry. Movements aren't supposed to be regular just yet, and although I would be concerned if I didn't feel anything at all I wouldn't be too concerned about a change in how it feels.

I don't think they will monitor you at hospital at this stage if you are still feeling movement. If you are bothered you can ring your midwife and see what they suggest, are you due an appointment in the next week or so anyway?

Northernbeachbum · 09/02/2018 08:17

He's moved more than 10 times in the last 2 hours which is what that link said (thank you so much for that!!!). He's moved more than that in the last 10 mins, he's just moved I think to a new position

Oh and I'm also 23 weeks with my second. No one has even mentioned monitoring movements until after around 26-28 weeks in either pregnancy unless you don't feel anything at all.

I was getting a really good kicking in bed last night but this morning it's just little flutters. It just means the baby has moved, e.g depending on where your placenta is if the baby is moving around behind it then you won't feel as much as you will when it's no longer behind it.

Northernbeachbum · 09/02/2018 08:43

No I've actually not been told to pay attention to it yet, next appt is the 27th so a while to go.

Hes still wriggling enjoying my breakfast so I'm happier now. Blimey I never realised pregnancy could be so stressful!!!

It's so so stressful, I know how you feel.

My hospital wouldn't check me out at 23 weeks 🙁 They won't do anything here until after 28 weeks.
