Hi all. Recently found out I am pregnant. My last period was 28/12/17 so I have worked out I am probably 5 weeks and 5 days. About a month ago I had cramps in what felt like my left ovary, so I am assuming this was when implantation took place. Only known I am pregnant for one week now and since then I have had random shooting pains in my lower stomach, sometimes my left side sometimes my right side - This isn't constant, it's usually when I move or if I sneeze. Also have had mild period like cramps off and on, usually later on in the evening. And today I have woke up with aching stomach muscles (upper area, just under my boobs) it's as if I've been working out. I am just very worried as I am only nearly 6 weeks so I was wondering if any of these things I've mentioned are red flags?
Thank you for reading

I'm not an expert by any means as it's my first, but I also have similar pains, very low down, below where you would usually have period pains. I believe the uterus is revving itself up a bit and expanding a little.

I had a few questions as I've also got some bleeding with mine, so I rang my GP surgery who arranged a call back and were hugely reassuring. I'm 5+6, and he basically said that the level of bleeding I've got (which, TMI, is more than you'd want!) falls in to the normal expectations of what could happen, but that if you're soaking a pad through each hour or you get serious pain it's worth seeing a doctor.

I'd suggest giving your GP surgery a ring for a call back and say you're in the early days and concerned about cramping. He ruled out ectopic for me on the basis that I don't really have serious painful cramps (what I've got is more a sensation, like a twinging more than a pain, it moves about almost in a cup type shape and from side to side). Our GP surgery is usually appalling but actually they gave great advice so worth a try for a call back and certainly better than sitting and worrying about it. They will take it seriously and they may offer you the reassurance of an early scan to make sure it's implanted in the right place or some bloods to check everything is progressing normally. I think the early weeks are a mixed bag.

Best wishes x

First things first, congratulations!
This is my first pregnancy and I am twenty weeks now but I remember that in the first few weeks I was getting cramp like pains in my stomach, which would sometimes last for a while and were quite painful. I was speaking to my GP (at a non-pregnancy related appointment) and mentioned this to him-he said it is totally normal as everything is starting to stretch in your tummy to make room for the baby.

Sounds normal to me.

@emma94 I had really similar pains and was assured it was totally normal. I also had the feeling like I'd been working out and I certainly hadn't!
