Anyone else struggling to sleep?

Sleep seems to be a thing of the past now! I have no issues getting to sleep but I can’t stay asleep past 3am now. I toss and turn the whole way until it’s an acceptable hour to get up. I know insomnia is a common complaint but I was just wondering if anyone else was suffering and if you do anything to help you sleep through. I’m desperately tired every single day now and I know it’s onlg going to get worse once baby is here!

Yep, broken sleep and middle of the night wakefulness for hours since I was about 6 weeks (now 27 weeks). I’m constantly being told to sleep now before the baby comes, but it’s not for want of trying!

HerSymphonyAndSong · 06/02/2018 06:25

The only thing I have found that helps with the tiredness is having naps but I work 8-5 min-fri so sadly can only do this at weekends

aeyzsm · 06/02/2018 06:28

Yep!! Am 33 weeks and been wide awake since 4am. Just can't get comfortable and turning over is such an effort x

mum2bemay22 · 06/02/2018 06:36

I’m 25 weeks and this no sleeping started suddenly in the last couple of weeks!! I’ve tried everything, I even bought some expensive Neal’s Yard pillow spray hahaha but it hasn’t done much! It’s every night and I think my poor husband has had enough of sharing a bed with me!

Me 👋🏻 I’m 25 weeks as well and can’t sleep well past 3am. Just seem to doze and toss and turn. My hips get sore if I’m on one side too long. Doesn’t help my 2 year old has been waking in the night as well and has dropped her day time nap. So between her and working, naps are a thing of fantasy for me 😫
On top of being tired today I have to starve all morning as I have a glucose tolerance test 😭 so hungry already. pregnancy is a bitch sometimes

mum2bemay22 · 06/02/2018 07:00

Oh no readysetcake, it’s hard being awake from 3am but I can’t imagine having a 2 year old awake as well, poor you! I hope you get some well deserved sleep at some point! Luckily my husbands organised a getaway today to a spa for two days for us so I’m going to try my hardest to relax and restore until I’m back to reality of no sleep again!

Do you have a spare bed? I tend to decamp there to avoid getting annoyed with H’s lovely easy sleep. I had the poor sleep before the pelvic pain set in, but the discomfort definitely makes it worse

mum2bemay22 · 06/02/2018 07:08

We did have a spare bed but then I sold it because we are moving house and wasn’t taking it, my biggest regret 😭! I actually feel unwell because I know I’m so tired but I just cannot rest, no one tells you this about pregnancy do they!

Yep me too! Am 21 and a bit weeks and I wake up at about 4am every day! Go to sleep about midnight because I get into bed shattered them am wide awake! And to make matters worse I had 2 jabs yesterday one in each arm so sleeping on my side hurts. Oh well, lots of web browsing means my list of stuff to buy is getting longer and more detailed!

mum2bemay22 · 06/02/2018 07:13

Also just out of interest, what time are you all actually falling asleep?

ForeverHopeful21 · 06/02/2018 09:06

Another one here not sleeping!
I fall asleep pretty easily around 10pm but wake up 2am for a wee and then thats me awake. I force myself to lie there with eyes closed and sometimes I do drift off again sound 5am.

To be honest even the sleep I do get is very interrupted, I'm constantly tossing and turning, uncomfortable, restless legs, cramp in calves etc etc.

HerSymphonyAndSong · 06/02/2018 09:12

I fall asleep easily too, often before 10pm because I’m so tired. But I don’t seem to be able to sleep more than about 4 hours at a stretch

sourpatchkid · 06/02/2018 09:16

I barely slept at all in my pregnancy (was getting about an hour by the end) I used a sleep hypnosis app which helped a little. Also fresh air and deep breathing.

I slept literally as soon as he was born (couldn't stay awake, midwives had to hold DS for him to breastfeed!) then DS woke every 90 mins to feed at night. I was easily prepared for this and actually was much more rested that before he was born so when everyone says "is worse when Baby is here" it really isn't it you've been suffering insomnia. Thanks

mum2bemay22 · 06/02/2018 09:30

No wonder why they say pregnant women are irritable, we are tired people!! I’m glad it’s not just me suffering though, sometimes I worry that because I haven’t slept that baby will be affected but I know he is absolutely fine and he gets his sleep lol!
