Bladder prolapse in pregnancy

HI all, I am currently 34 weeks pregnant and I have been suffering with a constant cough which has resulted in what I believe is a bladder prolapse (I’m booked in with a GP Wednesday). I am freaking out that this “extra bit” will be in my vagina forever and I always leak urine from now on. I was hoping there are some positive recovery stories out there to give me some hope...all of a sudden I feel less of a woman and most definitely less attractive 😣

Make sure you're doing plenty of pelvic floor exercises (1-2 sets of 5, 4-5 times a day) and keep them up. There's no point worrying about doing more than that while you're pregnant, but after you might look to getting a referral to physio. I have a bladder prolapse (something I developed about 3 years after I had my dd, partly probably from a weak pelvic floor from having her but also I have joint hypermobility, so my soft tissues just don't work as well as they should). I found a lot of relief from just a couple physio appts and keeping up the exercises I was given and other lifestyle changes. As yours is probably most due to pregnancy (not other conditions on top), you should be pretty successful in getting in sorted postnatally if you just keep up on the exercises. I found a lot of relief initially, but then we planned to get pregnant again, so it's flared up a bit, but no doubt will be better in time again.

Thank you, this has given me hope that it won’t be forever! Good luck with yours and your pregnancy.
