Really painful area on bump

Hi just asking this as I am sure it's fairly benign but am really struggling with a painful area on my bump like above and to the side of my belly button sort of near the top of bump. I am just shy of 34 weeks and started a week or two ago but has gotten worse, it also gets worse throughout the day and towards the end of the day this area is excruciating to do a lot of movements (twisting especially) but even just at rest it's painful and extremely tender to touch. I am pretty good with pain and can cope with most aches without noticing to much but this is so painful it makes me cry out several times a day. It's just an area that's sharp and painful.

Does anyone have anything similar or know what it is? I am assuming pulled muscle maybe from the stretching?? And if you have experienced it has anything helped with the pain???

I am seeing the midwife on Thursday so will ask then but just hoping for some help before then if possible!
Thanks!

I'm sure right upper quadrant pain can be liver area? Not sure...... but definitely speak to your midwife/day unit if it's causing you regular pain.

There isn't any point struggling along with these things always get checked out. X

Hi OP, while it probably is just muscular strain and nothing to worry about, please call your midwife sooner than Thursday to check it is nothing internal causing it.

I struggled with this dreadfully with my first, it was awful and would have me in tears. My midwife wasn’t concerned but I don’t think I explained quite how painful it actually was.

I’m now 28 weeks with my second and it’s rearing it’s ugly head again. I have my midwife appt tomorrow and going to mention it to her and really explain fully how painful and debilitating it is, I can’t even walk to the car to Tesco without the pain. I know this doesn’t help you but you’re not alone, I’ll let you know what my midwife says tomorrow x

Thank you for that I will speak to midwife this week. It feels like bump related isn't deep or internal so hoping is just muscular. Going to try a hot wheat bag this evening see if it helps! X

Sorry cross post!

Yes please do let me know what it is if you get any answers! This is my second and never had it with my first but she was breech the entire time and bump and movements were much smaller and minimal so wasn't sure if that has made the difference.

It is really really painful! It's hard to explain but feels like am being ripped open from the inside! And trying to look after my nearly 2yr old and just getting on with day to day tasks really is getting hard!

I totally feel your pain, literally!! That’s exactly how I describe it, and it feels like a red hot poker. I also don’t understand why it’s sometimes tender to touch from the outside?!

My first is two as well, currently has an ear infection too so feeling sorry for herself wanting carrying a lot of the time bless her which doesn’t help. I’ll let you know what she says and we can compare lol x

Thanks! Yes please do!! I am baffled, I tried a hot wheat bag last night but didn't make a big difference and just irritated my sore stretched skin a bit! Haha not much help!

Looking forward to hearing your results today!

I had exactly the same with my first, but on the left side. It was agony, felt like my skin would split! I dreaded anyone touching my bump on that area. I went to the doctor in the end as the whole area went numb to the touch, and was told it was just the nerves and tissue being stretched beyond capacity, and that the cure was childbirth! Good luck, hope it eases off soon!

Hey! My midwife wasn’t fussed at all... Confused which wasn’t very helpful. She said as long as baby is okay and moving lots there isn’t anything to be concerned about. I wasn’t really ever concerned about baby but I’m guessing it’s muscular like I thought. With my first, the pain disappeared overnight as soon as DD was born so it must just be all the stretching and tearing of muscles exactly like rosetintedspectacles has said above. Let me know what your MW says too! Smile
