Can you listen to the hypnobirthing audables while busy cleaning / walking the dog / cooking / any other midweek duties which crop up!

I've been reading Maggie Howells positive birthing book and love it but don't want to invest in the audio downloads if I know I will have to be motionless while listening to them.

Any advice / past experience welcome

You are pregnant, perfect excuse to put your feet up for half an hour! I'm sure you could listen to them while doing other things ( not driving!) but the point is you are supposed to go into a state of deep relaxation. I fell asleep without fail...

I just listened to them when I got into bed every night to go to sleep, and fell asleep whilst it was playing, still found it very effective in labour

When did you start doing hypnobirthing? I really want a hypnobirthing.

Passmethecakeplease · 04/02/2018 19:29

What about listening to them when in the bath or when you get in bed?
For me, I can't imagine it working or me taking it in if I wasn't relaxed at the time of listening which is why I do what I've suggested above (because I'm busy and appear to be 100mph most the time too!).

I stick mine on through headphones when I get in to bed and fall asleep listening to it 😊

Thank you for the responses, I can definitely work with the before bed strategy so will go for it!

Jubbablub - I got the book at about 20 weeks - highly recommend! I am now 25 weeks and planning on starting the birth prep MP3. We paid alot for NCT classes so I won't be going to any sessions but the book has already made my subconscious much more positive about birth - I had a wonderful dream about it the other night so it is clearly working on my brain!

No, you really do need to take the time out and actually relax. But everyone can find 38 minutes twice a week. Or if you can only spare 38 minutes once a week, then just start a bit early and don't wait til the last minute. It really is a worthwhile investment of your time and a rare luxury to be able to have time to yourself. You will die for 38 minutes to yourself once baby arrives. Your partner can clean, walk the dog, cook one afternoon/evening a week.

I often do them on the weekends in the afternoon and my dh takes our 5 year old on a walk or outside to play. It's great for them to have time together as I tend to have after school with her during most weekdays. I used it for my first birth and it was wonderful. I have a lovely, relaxed home birth, didn't need any pain relief, didn't really find it painful. Very worth the small amount of time I spent doing it.
