Have been very tired recently and thinking of trying the tablets in increase iron to see if that helps. Can someone please remind me of the name of them.

Are there any side effects I need to know about?

Theres Spatone which is really good.
They come in little satchets and you pour them into some juice.

No side effects unlike some which can make you constipated.

Spatone, buy the box of sachets from everywhere I think but defo Boots.

I took these in pregnancy and was totally cool with them. Just pour into orange juice as Vit C helps absorb the iron. Tastes a little metalic but not gross. Also bought something like flurolixe??? but definitely less tasty! You can buy that one in health shops.

I took them as hospital said iron levels were low and wanted me to take the prescribed iron suppliments. But I did my research and my iron level wasn't actually that low to warrant them and didn't want to add to my already cronic constipation which some iron tablets cause! So Spatone perfect solution.

Could just be normal pregnancy tiredness and not iron deficiency. I'm sure you could ask for a test if you wanted to be sure. But start with one sachet of Spatone perhaps... I'm not aware of any side effects from the liquid sachets, I didnt' have any.

It is good though to have a topped up iron level though as apparantly you are less likely to have probs if you loose a lot of blood during delivery and helps you to recover quicker if tired after birth etc.

Good luck.

spatone.. I have taken iron for years and these are great. get it in boots

I cann't tolerate the tablets, they make me ill but no issues with this. Put in a glass or orange 1st thing in the morning and its done!

They do taste metallic taken on their own.

Floradix - liquid iron formula. I just loved the taste of it! Took it in the latter part of my previous pregnancy and thinking of starting taking it again now that I'm 28 wks. Here is a link to it:

I love the taste of spatone, but it is a bit like blood!

Main advantage for me, as with floradix, is no constipation which is v common with iron supplements.

I saw a nutrionist when I found out I was pg, and she recommended Floradix as the best iron supplement (and advised me to take it from 14 weeks).
