Hey ladies I'm currently 6wks4dys pregnant and I'm really struggling with the nausea I haven't thrown up and doubt that i will as I don't get sick often and didn't in my last pregnancy however I'm really struggling this time around I'm feeling so down and sick all the time I can't eat properly and can't go out anywhere. If I don't eat at all its worse and if i do eat the feeling is still there but with a full stomach. Ive tried all ginger things i can find which help a little for a short period of time but feel i need to try look for more things to help. Any suggestions please its so awful 😔

I had this (now 16+4) and it's just start to pass. I found it worse than actually being sick, and sorry to say I didn't find anything that particularly helped. It's was awful!
I did eventually from about 13 weeks start to get less nausea and the occasional throw up which I found easier to cope with. I did find eating little and often helps, and never over fill myself!
It should eventually start to phase out, if it's too bad I think you can go to the doctors for some help but I haven't done that myself so not 100% on that.

Thank you 0310star yes it is worse feeling sick all the time and not actually throwing up. Wow hopefully it won't be long now before it passes me aswell because I'm losing the will its so horrible i keep getting bad stomach aches almost daily aswell prompting me to use the loo. I went to the doctors a couple of days ago and the doctor was really nice and helpful he suggested sickness tablets but told me he wasn't sure if they would be completely safe in pregnancy so i chose not to have them. But i feel I might need to go back now to see if there is anything i can get to help me thats safe Hmm congratulations on your pregnancy 😌

Congratulations by the way :)
And @0310Star I'm 16 weeks 2 days! So we're very close :)))))
I had really bad nausea and was actually sick from about 10 weeks I used to eat dry crackers and ginger nuts too.
They say to eat little and often and tbh it's worked for me hope you feel better

Maidmummy · 04/02/2018 08:39

Im right there with you. Im 7+1 and feel sick 24/7. I ended up going to see my gp who prescribed me prochlorazapine which has helped a lot. I know you wont take anti emetics as you dont want to harm your baby but they are completley safe. I used them with DS and he was perfectly healthy. You just cant take them in your last trimester. No idea why

Barbie0316 · 04/02/2018 10:00

Proudmum4 thank you hun congratulations to you too yes that's exactly what I'm doing now eating ginger nuts wich help a little but then the sickly feeling is still and always there all day everyday hopefully it won't last for too much longer I worry if I'll ever feel normal again! 😫

Maidmummy congratulations to you aswell we are not that far apart I'm 7 weeks on Tuesday. I think i will go to my doctors again and see if i can be given something to help me aswell. Have you been throwing up or just constantly feeling nauseous? I'm worried because I haven't actually been throwing up they might not give me anything. Glad to know they are safe though during the first trimester will definitely try and get some. Also do they completely take away the sickness feeling or just take the edge off a little?

Have you tried the anti sickness wrist bands? I was the same as you in both pregnancies as in only nausea but that was sometimes worse as I never got any relief.

I found the wrist bands really eased it - cost about a fiver - they don't look pretty and it could be a placebo but I didn't care they worked for me. Good luck!

Maidmummy · 04/02/2018 10:34

You can take 1-2 tablets three times a day. I usually take one and it more than takes the edge off. It sort of sits in the background iykwim but disappears enough to get your appetite back. but i have taken 2 this morning as i have been on the verge of throwing up and for now its completley gone.

I havent thrown up yet but if i cough i start dry retching. Go back to your gp and play on it a bit if you have to. Your not eating, its affecting your sleep, your exhausted and cant cope etc. They cant not give you anything.

Hey there.
I know you are only having severe nausea atm. I have suffered from extreme nausea and vomiting in my pregnancy known as hyperemesis gravidarum. There is a hyperemesis thread on here with loads of different women why vary from a broad spectrum from horrible debilitating nausea to some like me with nausea&vomiting throughout pregnancy.
Totally disagree with the wrong information from maidmummy about no antiemetics in 3rd trimester. Most of us are on them in our 3rd trimester and it's completely safe.
Please do visit the website Pregnancy Sickness Support for more information about it.
You will have a great variety of anti emetics available to you from your GP if he/she is supportive, that will be completely safe such as cyclizine, promethazine, prochlorperazine which are the first options you will be given here in the UK mostly.
Goodluck with the rest of your pregnancy and hope you turn a corner soon!

Maidmummy · 04/02/2018 11:20

Sorry but you are wrong shehz21. I have read the patient leaflet on phroclorazepine and it clearly states the dangers of taking that paticular medication in the 3rd trimester.

I second @elmo's comment, the sea bands from boots are great they use acupressure and really helped me, i was bed bound for weeks before a lovely old dear told me she got them for her dd and may be worth a try. Normally around 5-7 pound. Hope you feel better soon OP!

PerfectlySymmetricalButtocks · 04/02/2018 11:29

Acupressure bands. Squeeze lemon juice on a tissue and sniff it.

Shehz21 · 04/02/2018 11:46

MaidMummy There are risks to every medecine in pregnancy but the HG group has been going on for the past 8 years with women on them who have HAD to take them until they had their babies with no such effects. And you are mentioning only one anti emetic here while there are so many others that can be taken in 3rd trimester. I'm afraid this scaremonging you are trying to do won't help anyone. Infact all hg sufferors would disagree with you about even prochlorperazine but as I have mentioned, you cannot generalize like in your previous posts that they are unsafe in 3rd trimester. There are many other options which ARE safe in the 3rd trimester and while some, we would need to wean off them 2 weeks before our due date, there are others that can be taken right up until birth.

Shehz21 · 04/02/2018 11:55

Attached is Buccastem which contain prochlorperazine. It was given to a lot of us on the maternity ward in our 3rd trimester by Doctors. Obviously the benefit has to be weighed against the risks.
Anyways the OP is in her 1st trimester and I think the best way is for your gp or a doctor(gynae) on the maternity ward to prescribe something for the OPs specific case.
Congrats on the pregnancy OP!Smile

I had really bad sickness from week 5 to week 34 (wasn't as bad with my first pregnancy). Eating little and often and staying well hydrated helped - but also did a lot of research and tried acupuncture, which to my amazement worked.

I don't think it works for everyone, but it took the edge off it for me.

Barbie0316 · 05/02/2018 13:01

Thank you all for your advice I'm going to try get a doctors appointment to see what they can do if they can give me anything. It's just so awful going through this its really getting me down now waking up and going to sleep feeling nauseous I can't wait for it to pass! 😢

I had an elective c section there several years ago and had a great experience. Felt reassured that it is one of the best hospitals in the county and when they discovered a lump in my bowel it was checked out straight away. I plan to go there for my second.

Wuffleflump · 05/02/2018 18:51

I've similarly had only nausea, but it seems to have ramped up after 12 weeks and eating regularly is no longer keeping it controlled (though I still feel better having eaten than not).

I've found sucking on sweets to help. Hard candy type things like rhubarb custards which take a while to dissolve, or chewing gum. Not normally a big sweet eater.
