I am 20 and in April I'm due my first baby, I guess I'm considered as a 'young' parent
None of my friends have children and not even many people I know to be honest... I'm not sure how to go about making friends who are also mums, where do I find you????

Get the Mush app.

It took me a while to get my courage up but I started taking my little one to Playgroup and messy play. Everyone has been so nice. I was so nervous at first but I just thought about how much my baby would get out of it. She loves it!

Get into the groups - there may be young Mum groups in your area but even if not join anything hat takes your fancy - stay behind for a blether, coffee, chat to other Mums, don't be shy, try to remember names as hat helps people warm to you (not great being asked the name of your child several times by same person)

Suggest walks, swimming or coffee dates, you'll be fine. Some people are so shy and are glad of others suggesting, and don't be offended if they say no thanks - it's not for everyone - Good luck!

Go to groups, you bond over lack of sleep and wind!

See if there is a children's centre near by that offers groups. Some groups can be from birth upwards so you can meet others at the same stage as you and your baby.

Try the children's centre, they have various groups and sometimes even have a "young mums" one if you're particularly looking to meet others of a similar age. For more general mum groups, just have a google search around your area, there are often a huge range of mum & baby playgroups at libraries, church halls etc, plus the various franchise classes like Baby Sensory, Hartbeeps etc - though these are often more expensive.

If you're on Facebook it's worth searching for "yourtown mums" or similar, there are often groups you can join to get ideas. Local NCT can also help.

It might be good to try and meet other mums before you have your baby too. Could you join a pregnancy yoga or fitness class? You'll probably find a range of ages attend these.

I've met a few other women due around the same time as me through my yoga class. I'm sure we'll meet up once our babies are born.

Good luck!
