Early pregnancy and breastfeeding

Advice and support please! I have two questions. Had a positive test last week following af no show. Think I’m almost 6 weeks. Still breastfeeding my 13 month old but seem to have dried up considerably over the last few weeks. Thought this was quick adaptation to return to work/full days in Nursery but wonder if it’s to do with pregnancy. Will it come back as I progress or is this meaning weaning? I’ve fed her once in the last 24 hours (until this week i was feeding in wake up, after nursery, before bed and 3x over night) and boobs are very soft and not feeling like they are getting any milk in at all no matter how long it goes. She hasn’t asked apart from when she woke and cried for me about an hour ago. Is this normal?

Also, my first pregnancy I remember having horribly sore and swollen boobs from even before the missed af. This time they are shrunk and not sore at all. I’m paranoid this is because Baby isn’t developing but wonder if could be to do with breastfeeding still?

Hi OP, I have a bf 13 month old and I’m now 32 weeks with dc2. I think my supply dipped a bit in the beginning as I felt soft and DS didn’t seem too fussed about milk for a bit. This lasted a couple of months and now he’s back to his normal feeding. TBH he could have easily weaned before Christmas but I kept offering morning/night feeds. I’ve taken early leave so I suppose demand feeding as well as progression in pregnancy has allowed for this!

I still haven’t got the feeling of milk being in there but he’s definitely swallowing and nappies are bulging more than ever. Keep an eye on her nappies and moniter other fluid intake carefully just in case! Supply decrease can’t really be avoided in certain pregnancies but it doesn’t mean weaning if you don’t want it to.

Congratulations on BFP, your new baby is getting first dibs on nutrition so they should be developing well! Ask your GP if you’re worried but unless you have history of miscarriage or underlying conditions bf in pregnancy is fine. Take care of yourself!

Hello, I'm 7 weeks preg and feeding my just turned 2year old. Started a thread about it recently as really unsure whether to continue, I think we could stop easily now but I would like it to be led by her if possible. I also like that it could help with jealousy of newborn feeding etc. I've been just planning to play it by ear, and my boobs have been the same as yours - well they've only been soft for a while and not much there, as we tend to only feed once a day on waking - but I've noticed they've not been as sore or starting to swell like they did at this stage in my last pregnancy. However. It just started like 2 days ago! Nipples abruptly quite sore and breasts just feeling fuller. Not achy yet though like I remember. So feeding is now a bit uncomfortable, I'm not sure I will feel like continuing if it stays like this. Which is fine.

So your sore boobs may develop too, or may not, I definitely think feeding means they are different in pregnancy, it makes sense as they werenthaving to produce milk last time.

Google tandem feeding for more info from others who've fed during pregnancy and beyond, it's definitely possible not to have to wean, if you don't want to, and if you do, the less milk will probably make it easier.
