Success stories after back to back 'chemical'/early losses

Hi all. Just jumping over from the conception board looking for some stories to lift my spirits please. I've recently had two early losses/chemical pregnancies, whatever people prefer to call them. My first in December was at 6 weeks and the one now at 4+6 weeks. Both confirmed with bfps, the first that stayed strong and so was unexpected and this one which was always faint so I kind of knew was going to happen (definitely not left over hcg as had bloods to confirm back to 0 after first loss so definitely a second pregnancy).

Anyway I am very lucky as I already have two children so whilst I know chemicals are very common it has come as a shock to have had two back to back when I've never had any problems before now (same partner).

I'm just wondering if there is any of you could share any positive stories re successful pregnancies after two back to back losses please? I guess I'm seeking some confirmation that this is quite normal as the epu advised rather than something being wrong with my body. I'm really scared to try again and have it happen over and over again with no explanation. It's such a roller coaster of emotions!

Thanks in advance x

So sorry for your losses mamabear. It is indeed such a rollercoaster and one that stays with you. Make sure you take time to look after yourself, however much you were almost expecting the last one.

I suffered two early losses before my current pregnancy - a missed miscarriage of twins at 9 weeks and then a spontaneous one at 6 weeks after that. I’m now 29+4 in my third pregnancy which happened straight off the back of the last miscarriage (no period between). I was told the same thing after 2 miscarriages - “just back luck”. Which is incredibly hard to accept when you just don’t know for sure and I certainly struggled emotionally in the early days of this pregnancy, feeling certain it couldn’t possibly be successful. Yet so far, it has been! Of course, nothing is set in stone and I’m still vary aware of “jinxing” things but I have a healthy, wriggly baby boy in my tummy right now and for that I’m so grateful.

It is entirely possible (and probable) that your next pregnancy will be successful, mamabear, and I really wish you all the best for the future. Positive thoughts are the way forward. Please take care of yourself x

Thank you so much for your kind words @emvy I really do appreciate you taking the time to reply. Sorry to hear about your previous losses but many congratulations on your sticky bean!

The EPU have advised me that there is no harm in continuing to try again this cycle as since I have lost both before 6 weeks it they would have had very little impact on my body. Emotionally though it is a different story. We are going to give it one last shot this cycle as I work in a school so it would be nice to avoid the summer holiday if possible in terms of mat leave (to give me the most time at home with bubs) but if we're not successful I think we might have a few months break and try again in the summer.

Wishing you a wonderfully healthy last few months hun. Thank you again

Thank you. I hope you can find some comfort from it.

I’m a teacher too Smile just follow your emotions, like you say - if you feel ready to try again then do, if you want to wait for a few months, then wait. You have to do what’s right for you. All the best x

Thank you again. Can I ask if you did anything differently this last time? X

No, I did everything exactly the same. The only slight difference was that I began taking a pregnancy multi-vitamin once I got pregnant instead of individual folic acid and vitamin d but that couldn’t have made any difference whatsoever. So no, basically, I didn’t Smile

I had two early losses (5 and 6 weeks) followed by a missed miscarriage (embryo didn't get past 5+4) all within 6 months. I waited three months and tried again.
We now have a rambunctious 14 month old and I'm 30+ weeks pregnant with another little bean.
Miscarriages are devastating, please make sure you take time to grieve and deal with it as I didn't and had a bit of a meltdown before I fell pregnant the fourth time and the anxiety around the pregnancy meant I couldn't enjoy it - I hid the bump in baggy jumpers and everything.
The only tip I was given was to take folic acid daily throughout ttc. I took pregnancy vitamins and worked to reduce my stress levels from work with a bit of mindfulness and a bit of acupuncture which I know isn't for everyone but helped me.
Wishing you the best of luck with your ttc journey! Thanks

Hi,

I suffered a miscarriage and then an ectopic pregnancy. I convinced myself I couldn't have children but wouldn't go and get checked to confirm. Roll on four/five years, a lot of tormented thoughts and I'm now sat cradling my week old baby. I unexpectedly became pregnant and had an early scan to rule out another ectopic, it was the best feeling in the world seeing her on the monitor. I also have an older child before the losses.

Good luck on your journey, I would recommend seeing your gp to discuss. I wish I had.

Sorry for your losses OP. It's horrible. I had two losses around the 6 week mark before my current pregnancy. One in May and one in August and then I fell again in September. I'm now 21 weeks and everything has gone well this time.

I took aspirin everyday and a mix of vitamins and then my doc put me on progesterone after 6 weeks when I went to see her. I'm not sure if that had a placebo affect tbh but I felt more confident taking the meds.

Good luck 🍀

I tested positive then came on the same day, then the next month I tested positive - now I’m 38 weeks :) good luck! Xx
