Car Seat Confusion

I can't help but worry that I'm about to look a bit stupid but Google is just confusing me!

We are looking at a Cybex car seat and Isofix base

MIL and FIL have a Maxi-Cosi isofix base for another grandchild. Can the Cybex fit the Maxi-Cosi isofix base or will they need a Cybex one too?

I can find lots of information about kits for fitting different car seat brands to peaks but nothing about bases Confused

Bases tend to be brand specific

If you have a cybex car seat you will need a cybex base. The cybex is a great seat (we have the sirona which is the next stage up for our son).

If you planned to buy two bases you might want to look at the maxi cosi pebble plus. This works with the maxi cosi two way fix base. You can then buy the two way pearl for the next stage up which works on the same base. The two way pearl is extended rear facing.

With cybex you need to buy a whole new seat for the next stage up which is a bit more expensive.

Completely up to you of course but just a thought!

Also just to check, there are two maxi cosi bases so best to check which one the grandparents have. The pebble plus needs the two way fix base and this is the one that allows for extended rear facing at the next stage up.

Just to add a bit more for you...

The car seats above infant size can come with the base attached and as you generally don't want to get them in and out of the car and these are generally cheaper it can make sense to go for one of these and not worry about a base that fits multiple seats.

Are you committed to the cybex? If not we got a besafe infant seat, which is great and it connects to prams with the same adaptors as the maxi cosi so they might be cross compatible with the isofix too (although I'm not sure so check!)

John Lewis were really helpful when we were looking, the staff in that department seemed to know a lot about their products
