Had to have a scan today and baby’s head is fully engaged but she’s pretty much back to back 😰 I’m so worried because my friend had a back to back baby and ended up in labour for 18 hours then baby got distressed so she had an emergency section. I know there are tips on how to turn a back to back baby but I’ve been bouncing on my ball for weeks and sleep on my left and very rarely slouch on the sofa because I can’t breathe properly when I do. Has anybody birthed a back to back baby and if so did you manage it without horrendous tearing? 😟 I’m gutted because I was feeling so positive and managing to ignore people’s birth horror stories, but now I’m sat here panicking about 3rd degree tears and such! 😞

My first was back to back. Long labour but didn't tear at all just grazed. Had G&A

I had a back to back baby. Little cherub asleep on me as I type. There was no difference between him and my daughter in terms of pain and speed. Hoping to point out a positive for you. Doesn't definitely mean it will be harder. Hope all goes well op. Flowers

Mine was back to back, although I had a long labour (4 days Shock) the little sausage turned at the last minute! I really enjoyed my labour though so it couldn't have been too traumatic!

I had a 2 hour labour and birthed DS2 while he was back to back. We didn't know until he was halfway out Grin

I had a lot of back pain but I didn't need an epidural like I did with my first.
A little tear but nothing drastic.

Every labour is different so don't base too much on friends horror stories.
3 weeks (or longer) is plenty of time to turn around anyway.
Recommend lots of walking though, I didn't do enough!

My first was back to back...with a MASSIVE head. Was a forceps delivery in the end after a 2 day labour. Really it would have been more sensible to have had a section. If they had added up all the risks (b2b, 99th centile bonce, 1st time mum) it would have been the right thing. But it's rare to properly risk assess mode of delivery based on birth position in U.K. maternity care.

Second was shaping up to be b2b so I followed the advice on spinningbabies.com, slept on my left with left hip elevated so tummy pointing down into bed and did lots of walking, letting tummy fall forward...ended up with ds2 in the text book position and had a very quick text book labour. Was brilliant!
