Cervical Erosion

I have had bleeding (am 24 weeks) and went to maternity unit on Thursday to be checked. They have said I have a cervical erosion. Just wanted reassurance that my baby will be fine.

When they did a scan to check the baby, his head was very low down in the pelvis. Is this a sign of preterm labour? Just want him to move back up!

I had a cervical erosion in this pregnancy and me and the baby are absolutely fine. I am currently 37 weeks and have had no problems since. I had bleeding for a few days and some cramps but it all healed on its own.

And this baby has been head down since the 20 week scan. She hasn't moved from that position. Means an awful lot of pressure and she has been fully engaged for a couple of weeks now but the midwife was certainly never phased by it and I am booked in for a homebirth one day in the not too distant future I hope.

had bleeding when they made me have a smear at 21 weeks and was told i had cervical erosion

DO NOT GOOGLE!!!!!!

all was fine, it means your cervix is a bit battered from infection or previous birth. in my case the MW manually stretching me the last 2cm for dd probably had a part to play in it!

Thanks for your replies. I have been bleeding since Thursday and have had pains. They took a swab and did urine tests and am awaiting the results. As long as I am ok and little one is not in danger or coming early I am happy.

Thanks for your advice. xxx

I bled for the first 6 months of pregnancy with my DD cos of cervical erosion. She was fine and apart from that I had a completely normal pregnancy. I would say though, they can re-appear. She's 4 now and I've been treated for another one since and am awaiting a gynae appointment to see if I have another due to more dysfunctional bleeding. The first one I had treated at the dr's though in a really simple proceedure - no worse than having a smear and only took 10 mins. Try not to worry.

I had a cervical erosion when Iwas pregnant with dd. Only found out that was what it was after the birth. All was fine.

RedFraggle · 28/04/2007 13:35

Oh and dd was almost 2 weeks late so it had no effect on her!

Thanks for your replies.

I still have bleeding when I wipe (TMI - sorry) and I am a little concerned. How long should you bleed for with a cervical erosion?

Also is sex out of the window?

Hi Endlesslove, I can't help I'm afraid but thought I would reply to bump this up for you! Have you spoken to your gp or midwife about it? They should be able to reassure you and answer any questions. They didn't know my bleeding was due to the erosion until I was delivering dd so I was put on bed rest for a few weeks and then told to just take it easy. I wasn't told to avoid sex at all though...

Thanks redfraggle. I have spoken to midwife and as the bleeding is gradually subsiding i don't have to do anything at this stage. If it gets worse and pains get worse then i have to go back in. I think the pains to be honest are stretching (another growth spurt happening i think!).

I am signed off this week to rest and that is what i will do.

xx

Definitely put your feet up and relax! You could have a lounge about in the sunshine and get a tanned bump...
