Then eating snacks with your hands?

Didn’t even think at the time just put food in the bin at my friends house but it doesn’t look clean. I only opened the lid to put the stuff in but didn’t even think

Why listeria in particular? E coli is more likely, but I'm sure you will be fine. Just remember to wash your hands in future!

If there was a listeria infection, possibly. But it's highly unlikely your friend's family is about to all come down with listeria and a 'dirty looking' bin is no sign of an infection. Listeria doesn't just live in random places really. I've truly not cleaned my bin in a long time and I have no concerns with infection in our house (and I have a public health background in infectious diseases).

I was thinking because of the raw unwashed veggies? If I got E. coli I would know about it it’s mainly listeria that I’m worried about.

Even if there was any listeria on the bin it’s unlikely it would be transferred by that or to the baby surely? I’m in second trimester now but still a little concerned

The chance of it from unwashed veg is extremely minimal.

There's a book called Expecting Better - give it a read if you can, should put your mind at ease
