I am due to give birth a few weeks before my sisters wedding! I will be one of two bridesmaids!
I need advice on what sort of dress I should go for? I’m usually a 14, tall and curvy 😀
Any advice much appreciated x

A very stretchy one!
It's impossible to guess how big you'll be, you'll almost definitely have huge boobs though, so nothing too low cut.
I've seen others wear the wrap style dresses as they're much more forgiving.

Congratulations! Can you choose your own dress? If so, I would go for a multiway dress (as in 2 birds dresses, but not actual two birds as they’re so pricey!) They are one size and can be worn in a way that is suitable for breastfeeding.

I’m a bridesmaid 8 weeks after my EDD in the summer. The bride was determined to order the dresses last week, she’s ordered a maya dress from ASOS. I debated between my normal size and the next size up (12 or 14), but when I tried them on they are v generously cut and are quite loose fitting and stretchy. I’ve ordered my normal size as there is plenty of room for my boobs to grow, and the skirt part is stretchy and fitted comfortably at 21 weeks pregnant, so I’ve gotta get on the diet as soon as the baby is born and invest in some Spanx!!

Good luck!

Should have said, the dres I have is not breastfeeding friendly as she chose the dresses, so I’ve no idea what I will do! But if you can get one that will work for you if you will be breastfeeding that will help a lot I’m sure!

Time to speak to bride and lay out intentions and if a change of dress is needed. Another issue to deal with is Lochia that could still be happening and it's not exactly the fun and joy to deal with etc.

Multi-way dresses are fabulous, we had them for my friends wedding and all 3 bridesmaids were radically different sizes and shapes from size 6 to 16 we all wore them slightly differently and had shawls but in the matching colour. They looked really good and were comfortable too.

I'd look at Tiffany Rose, they have lots of nice dresses that work with or without a bump and are bf friendly.

I was a bridesmaid 8 weeks after having my first baby. The neckline was square with quite wide straps to hide my chunky bra straps. The dressmaker was able to do the final fitting a couple of weeks before.
I couldn't breastfeed in it, that was annoying. I had to go and sit in a room by myself and take off all the top half of my dress. That was annoying.

Sorry I misread, I thought you said a few weeks after the wedding Blush

There is a brand of multiway dress called Only Way which have a panel you can add in. It's basically a boob tube in matching fabric, you can hardly see it under the dress (depending on how you wrap it) but might be more comfortable if you have pregnancy boobs.

I was bridesmaid when my DD was six weeks old, I had a lovely maxi dress from monsoon, it crossed over at the back, so I paid to have the straps uncrossed so that I could breastfeed. I shopped for it when six months pregnant as feel it would be realistic for post baby weight, it went out from under the boobs so was comfortable and the straps were thick enough to wear a normal bra with :)

How many weeks before? Is your sister ok with the possibility that you might not be able to be there?

SS81C · 25/01/2018 21:38

I was maid of honour for a friend at 34 week's and one of the other bridesmaids was 32 weeks. We had the multi way dresses and they were fab. No stressing that they wouldn't fit and could wear in a style that suited each person - looked fab on the non pregnant bridesmaids too.
