So as in title. Had 34 week apt today (, I'm exactly 34 weeks) . And measure the same as my 31 week so no growth. Second pregnancy but large gap of. Over 12 yrs..
Referred for scan.
Was unsure what causes this. I eat and drink plenty with all the right foods.. Plus treats lol.
Been under a lot of stress lately, non pregnancy related
And low iron which is being looked into again as struggling with shortness of Breath alot.

Hopefully get the scan for a few days the Mw. Said. X

It can be one of those things that no one can find a reason for but often is caused by an issue with the placenta or blood supply to baby which can be caused by a number of things like blood pressure problems, smoking, advanced maternal age etc. Try not to worry as fundal height measurements are really only an indication to do some further investigations and are not on their own alarming.

If your baby is measuring small, or a problem is noted, one of the doctors will be asked to review the scan results and will make a plan for you. This might be having more scans and/or an early induction. If everything seems normal they will just refer you back to your community midwife.

Nothing you have done with regards to your eating (unless you were seriously unwell with an eating disorder) or stress levels will have made any difference to the outcome so please do not worry!!

I’m in the same position. Got a scan on Monday and if he hasn’t grown enough they want me to have a c section that week. Hopefully both our bubs will grow but if they think baby will get more nutrients out than in they may well offer an early induction or c section. Hugs, I know how scary it is 😢 x

I measured two weeks behind at my last appointment so was referred for a growth scan. They checked all measurements and heartbeat and everything was fine, so no further action taken. I think they’re just cautious when growth drops off- I know quite a few people whose measurements have dropped off towards the end. My Midwife did say it may just be that the baby has dropped down low

Thank you so much for replying. She said if I haven't had a call by tomorrow to ring them as often they miss referrals somehow?
Baby seems to. Be moving OK. She couldn't count to record HB as baby was wriggling too much. But said it sounds fine.
Just a waiting game.
However far were you ladies when had growth scan?

I’m 34 weeks as well. I know it’s stressful but if they thought there was anything drastically wrong I’m sure you’d have been admitted. X

Oh goodness, don't worry! I measured small in all of my pregnancies, and as a result was sent for several "emergency scans". It really doesn't indicate a problem, it's just how you're carrying. Plus a tape measurement is a really crude way to check the baby's progress! Try to relax and enjoy the bonus of getting to see the baby in an extra scan!

I was 36 weeks. I think everyone just carries differently. Always worth getting checked though and you get to see baby again!

It's probably nothing if this is based inbump measurement but better safe than sorry.

One of my twins showed slowing growth at my 28 and 32 week scans. Plenty of movement and they dismissed it and said it was fine. At 35+1 I felt quite unwell, just generally didn't feel right, had a headache, something was wrong but not sure what. My lovely midwife insisted I go in to get checked out. My twins were born two hours later by emergency cs as the smaller one had stopping moving and had a static heart rate. A few more hours and he wouldn't have made it. I had no idea he had stopped moving.

I'm not saying this to scare you at all, just to encourage you to monitor movements as much as you can, and if you're at all concerned about less or more movements than normal, go in and get checked out. You can't be too careful.

Hope your scan goes well x

I dropped down under the bottom curve of the chart they plot (5th percentile I think?!) at 36 weeks so they sent me for a scan and he was measuring on the 95%. Sometimes it can just be that they've moved into a funny position.
Obviously if you have the scan and the growth is still off you may get to meet them a little earlier than expected Smile

You get to see the placenta & cord in multicolour. Which is kind of neat.
My baby was fine, btw, the largest of all of mine at nearly 9 lbs at birth.
