Hi Ladies,

Do we have any recommendations for pregnancy pillows? It's hard to gage whether it's good without being able to touch it.

What do you like about it? Does it double as a feeding pillow, are you able to wash the cover?

Thanks!

I bought a dream genie, used it for a couple of nights and suffered the next day with pain down the inside of my legs. For me I think it was too much ‘padding’ and kept my legs too far apart! I’ve found the best thing for me is a normal pillow between my knees.

The dream genie does help keep you on your side though. It depends what you want it for I guess. My issue was/is hip pain and cramps at night.

Good luck!

Judge I really struggled with dreamgenii too, when I woke up it was on the landing Grin I think I remember trying to stay on my side but chucked that out of the bed and woke up on my back anyway.

I’ll kwep watching this thread!

@JustOverthinking Grin I also found that it was a palaver when I turned over (as I do multiple times a night!) as you lay on top of part of it so have to move the whole bloody thing!

12 foot 'U' pillow from amazon and a v pillow made of memory foam which I got online somewhere but loads of places sell them.

I have had no problems at all with using these, been sleeping really well and very comfortable since I brought them at 20 weeks. The 12 foot pillow is amazing, I just cuddle it every night and have some of it between my legs. Absolutely no back or hip problems. I'm 34 weeks today Smile

The memory foam pillow will especially be useful post birth for feeding too, and I mostly use it to prop me up for reading in bed or watching telly

These are great. It's my first pregnancy so I'm unsure of what I'm actually looking for... for now and future! So your advice so far is great!

It does concern me a little that I start on my side but wake up on my stomach.

I'm only 14 weeks so bump is minimal at the moment but conscious that sleeping on my stomach is not good!

@Tweetypie95 get the 12 foor pillow! It completely stopped me going onto my back in the night. They are like 25 quid, so pretty reasonable. I am literally in a relationship with mine!

(we plan on eloping post birth Grin )

HerSymphonyAndSong · 23/01/2018 21:29

It’s perfectly safe to sleep on your tummy as long as it’s comfortable. It’s sleeping on your back that you need to be careful with

Buxbaum · 23/01/2018 21:34

Sleep on your stomach for as long as you can without discomfort. You will miss it later!

harrietm87 · 23/01/2018 21:35

I got the Summer Infant Body Pillow from JoJo Maman Bebe. It's brilliant. It zips up to be a feeding pillow and a little nest for the baby, so will hopefully be able to use after pregnancy. It's very comfortable to sleep with. Was about £35 I think.

Buxbaum · 23/01/2018 21:36

Also - if you’re only 14 weeks then I’d wait a while before investing in anything. You don’t know what niggles and discomforts you will have later and different pillows are good for different things (eg I loved the theraline pillow but it badly exacerbated my sister’s pelvic pain).

Doublechocolatetiffin · 23/01/2018 21:44

I have the dreamgenii and got on well with it in my first pregnancy. I liked that it was relatively compact and helped to keep you on your left.

This pregnancy I don’t like it anywhere near as much. Either I’m bigger (strong likelihood) or the pillowcase has shrunk a bit, but I find the space between the two parts to cramped and it gets uncomfortable. I get on ok with it once I fold it over so both parts of the pillow are on my left. I basically just use the longer side and the short bit that should go on your right is redundant.

Doublechocolatetiffin · 23/01/2018 21:44

Urgh *too cramped not to cramped.

bettydraper31 · 23/01/2018 22:40

I agree ref the 12 foot pillow from Amazon. You won’t look back! Makes cuddling hubby a little tricky now but stops me rolling on my back and is sooooo comfy!

Potteryprincess30 · 24/01/2018 08:51

@bettydraper31 , yes my partner is behind the wall of the mighty pillow too Grin

I think it's so good because you can put it in any position you want, it can double up as a back rest, you can snake it round your body, put it between your legs, under your bump... Anything that suits the individual.

It definitely helps wedge you in whatever position is best for you though because of its size

LalalalalaLand · 24/01/2018 20:19

Another vote for theraline although it did get annoying having to move it to my other side if I wanted to roll over.
