Pregnant after ectopic - same pains

Hi all,

I’m desperately looking for reassurance, I have posted on a few other threads so sorry if you’ve read my messages before! I had an ectopic pregnancy late last year and had expectant management so I still have my tube. I am 4 weeks 4 days pregnant again and experiencing the exact same pain in the area where I had my ectopic pregnancy. I’m not bleeding this time though which was my first symptom last time. I am being monitored by EPAU, my hCG has been rising well and I have a scan booked for Thursday but I am in constant pain and just can’t stop fearing the worst.

I’m hoping it’s scar tissue hurting, not another ectopic in the same place. I think hCG doubling is not common in ectopics although I’m aware it can’t be ruled out. Has anyone experienced this? I would be so grateful for any reassurance.

Many thanks in advance!

Sorry, no personal experience of this, but didn't want to read and run. Think it's just a case of waiting for Thursday. Really hope you get good news. Hand hold for you. Flowers

Hi Marriage!

Congratulations on your pregnancy!

Ive had 2 ectopics and 2 normal pregnancies since then. Had the same pain with both the normal pregancies and each time was convinced they were ectopic! I will have my fingers crossed for you. No bleeding and your hcg rising nicely is a really reassuring sign!

Marriageoftrueminds · 24/01/2018 09:16

Ah thanks for replying guys! whooptydoo1 thanks for your kind words. crimminyjicket you’ve given me hope! Very sorry for your two ectopics. Can’t imagine having to go through that again. But so pleased you had two happy stories subsequently.

I had my scan, it it extremely early days for a scan at 4+6 but they saw what they think is the gestational sack, in the uterus! So I am doing my best to be reassured by that. Thanks for your support abd hand-holding!

That’s great news, thanks for letting us know, are u back at the EPAU again in a couple of weeks to check again?

crimminyjicket · 25/01/2018 17:05

Aw thats great news!! Will they be re scanning you in a few weeks? With my last dc i had a scan at 5 weeks and could only see gestational sac too.

Marriageoftrueminds · 25/01/2018 17:39

Thanks guys! Yes I have another scan next week. Then I think if all is well I will slot back into the system for low-risk people. I’m so grateful I’ve been given this extra care!

Keep the us posted, You are exactly the sort of person this additional care is meant for, I hope they’ve been able to put ur mind at rest a bit and all goes well next week, take care of yourself and the little one

I had a first pregnancy with no problems. Then, 18 months later an ectopic pregnancy- exactly like yours- I was lucky to keep my tubes. I then got pregnant with my second (3.5 years between the two). It was the ONLY pregnancy out of three that went well. I really wonder if you are still worried about the ectopic pregnancy? Just believe that your body is designed for this kind of trauma. It is traumatic but maybe your mind takes a bit longer to adjust? Enjoy your pregnancy and KNOW that all pregnancies are a bit of a shock to the system. Trust your body and don't do anything to mess things up. Leave the rest to nature and trust.

Thanks Standup, this is very inspiring! I am trying to stay positive even though I don’t know how a foetus could really survive all this cramping in the uterus which I’m having now. On the plus side however my ‘extopic’ pains have subsided now!
