I was so hungry I bought a prawn Mayo sandwich from the co-op, it said pasteurised egg in it and the v prawn is cooked and pink..
But then I stupidly googled if it was ok to eat ... Generally yes as the prawn is cooked but then I read don't buy them from shops in case someone's picked it up walked around and put it back...hmm surely this is a minimal risk? I've eaten the sandwich and now I'm feeling paranoid...I know nothing can be done but just wondering if anyone else has eaten prawn Mayo sandwiches without issues?

I had a huge craving for prawn mayo sandwiches in my first pregnancy and ate a LOT of them. No problems. Cooked prawns are perfectly safe.

Eaten loads of these! My last pregnancy especially, I had a massive prawn mayo and prawn salad doused in olive oil cravings so had them most days. My youngest had no problems from it, in fact he’s really bloody smart!

They're fine. That could literally apply to absolutely any fresh food in the shop and then beyond that, you can't be store how things are stored in transit, production, etc. You just have to trust if you've never gotten sick before from eating something that it's probably fine now too. I ate loads of raw oysters in first tri. It was what I wanted and they were delicious. I lived to tell about it and have had a lovely, easy pregnancy (37 weeks now).

Prawns is literally one of the only things I can eat at the minute, love them and ate them all through my DD pregnancy too!

With a heightened sense of smell, if there was anything fishy (excuse the pun) about the sandwich, I think you would have noticed. Plus, if that is what you fancied, you probably needed the iodine or something.

I was like you, googling food. Grin
