Good evening
I'm looking for advice/idea about people wear at night for feeding babies - breastfeeding, i am 28 weeks pregnant and thinking ahead! I find it difficult anyway to find clothes i like and am comfy in, being a plus size! wearing 16/18/20 at the mo depending on style/shop etc. ~I would assume that front opening night wear and i do prefer nighties are the best especially in hospital etc but have had difficulty finding any I like and or that fit so would be grateful for ideas!!

thanks!

I got a few from matalan when I had dd 2.5 years ago and they are still going strong. Similar style to this. Cheap as chips and thet do them in various fabrics. www.matalan.co.uk/product/detail/s2672975_c586/sketch-button-nightie-coral

I just wore what I’d normally wear. Plus a sleep bra (which I always needed to hold pads in place as I leaked SO much).

So pjs (just the top if I didn’t want the bottoms on) plus sleep bra. Pull the top up and unclip the bra strap to feed. If it was really warm I’d just wear the bra.

For front bottoning nighties in hospital I just bought a couple in bigger sizes from primark. They were fine while I was there but haven’t worn them any other time as I wouldn’t normally wear nighties.

Hey

I got the grey and navy version of these maternity nighties

They are so comfy, have flaps to pull up for breast feeding and are really good quality

I also think they are really flattering especially for hospital and go up for
22/24

I bought front opening stretch nighties from Matalan when I had my first over 15yrs ago. I wore these as normal nighties after and wore them when I had my son 10yrs ago. I have since thrown them out. But will be looking for something similar now as 8 wks with number 3.

Secondsop · 22/01/2018 21:37

I also found it hard to find things - similar size - so I bought some normal nighties and sewed a little placket with poppers into the front so that I could open it for feeding.

I just wear primark strappy nighties in a sort of jersey fabric with a crop top underneath and hoik a boob out over the top for feeding. I couldn’t be bothered with buttons or anything more complicated in the middle of the night!

bengalcat · 22/01/2018 21:42

I'm with dinodiva on this one - Primark strapless 'baby dolls ' in a larger size and just hoick a boob out - easy

I found shirt button up nighties to be the best as I could unbutton for breastfeeding while keeping my arms in the sleeves and not getting cold. Plus when I was recovering from my c section it was easier to completely unbutton than try to pull something over my head.
They didn’t make me feel like a complete frump as well which might sound vain but was true for me

Marks and Spencers have some in that are ok, however looking at the website, this is the only one I can find (they had more before Christmas so may get some more in soon)

Thanks OP and @Lotsalotsagiggles - also having this dilemma and have just bought the la redoute ones - they look lovely and good price too.

Lotsalotsagiggles · 23/01/2018 10:16

Yep they are sooo comfy and keep their shape after washing. Was really impressed with the quality and are ideal for hospital too :)

I bought shirt nighties from primark in a size or two above what I normally am. They we're perfect as I had a catheter in and had a C-section, so trousers and normal PJs would have been no good. I wouldn't have needed maternity stuff but I did need loose baggy stuff in larger sizes.

When I had my first I just wore Scrappy maternity tee shirts and I did feel pretty crap, so I wanted something 'nice' this time around, and it did make me feel better.

Once I was home from the hospital I borrowed some trousers from my DH and I wear them above my scar. I probably don't need to now but I still do as they are super comfy Grin
