I've always had really good skin and since getting pregnant (now 18wks) it has got worse with every passing week. It's soooo dry and sore and breakouts that never ease off or get better. I wash it with a gentle soap and have tried every non chemical based moisturiser and now I'm trying simple good old e45 which isn't helping either (greasy skin in pic is because I just got out of the shower and moisturised) Any advice on what I can do?

Oh that looks so sore!! I hope you're ok. Have you been to the docs? I've had sore skin on my sides and they prescribed a fungal cream which has really helped and calmed down the itching. Really feel for you!

I’ve had similar on my cheeks - although a smaller area than in your photos. After weeks of foundation all day to cover, and creams and potions all night to try and resolve, it’s finally clearing up now at 22 weeks. I think it will be hormone led, and I hope yours clears up like mine is doing, but worth seeing the gp about in case of infection or allergic response.

It's on both cheeks and stings a bit. Today is definitely the worst so far hence the post but the dry really flaky skin is all over my face literally from forehead hairline down to jawbone. I'll make a doctors appointment Monday it's got me to the point of not wanting to be out in public 😔

I have used olive oil and coconut oil in the past when my skin has gotten very upset with me. Both are very good for poorly skin.

bananaramama · 19/01/2018 14:36

I found rose hip oil has really helped my skin. I was reluctant to use it at first as it is an oil but it has slowly and steadily improved my skin so it isn't as red and cystic - I think my skin was super dry and compensating by producing more oil hence more spots. My skin drinks it up (sometimes I apply twice if it's v cold and dry) and it's much less bumpy and spotty and the redness is fading xx

Mine was like this around my chin and cheeks from around 12 weeks, I blathered my face in sudocream every night over the effected areas then used simple facial moisturiser on a night, I'm 29 weeks now and they have completely disappeared (although I'm a serial picker and left with lots of scarring 😩). Sudocream definitely helped although I think mostly you just have to wait it out which I know is difficult x

Shaunieh95 · 19/01/2018 14:39

Apologies!!! Simple moisturiser on a morning!!! Got carried away lol x

EggsonHeads · 19/01/2018 14:39

Try a lavender based moisturiser. The lavender is very soothing. Jurlique does a very nice day lotion that is gentle and moisture from but isn't too heavy.

Thank you so much everyone, just to top it off i haven't reached the nice thick good hair stage either it's falling out a lot. I didn't have good hair with my first pregnancy either I lost a lot of hair and my eyelashes fell out but at least I had good skin lol

It could also be food allergy based... Sometimes pregnancy can trigger a food allergy... Maybe try and see if less dairy may help... It can be hormonal but I've heard that allergy can start or happen too x

Pugsleypugs · 19/01/2018 16:17

Oh bless you, that does look sore.

My DH has acne rosacea and uses this to wash his face. I'd recommend it (it can be bought in a chemist or online without prescription.

Aveeno cream?

gryffen · 19/01/2018 18:03

Dermol is my go to for the last few years and you can use it everywhere.
It's an emollient so use wet as a soap substitute or dry as a soothing lotion.
Try not using soap, maybe that's your trigger - Maybe a Tea Tree wash?

Defo see doctor as ouchie

Longleggedlovely · 19/01/2018 18:20

Please go to the doctor and don’t keep trying different creams etc. I had a similar thing over New Year tho mine was an itchy, dry, bumpy rash. I used Sudocrem and the doctor said it probably made it worse. She diagnosed dermatitis and prescribed a very low dose steroid cream and an antihistamine which has cleared it up within a couple of days. My skin is still a bit dry but water only and a rich moisturiser seems to be slowly sorting that out. Hope it gets better soon.

Thanks for all your help. Update it's a pregnancy dairy allergy. I can get away with a small amount (milk in 1 cup of coffee) without a reaction but more than that and my whole face flares up. Not easy given that I had gastric bypass a couple of years ago and I'm a vegetarian and my go to when nothing else will go down or stay down is sucking on cheese or a small yoghurt.
