Carpal and wedding day

This week I've started getting carpal tunnel really badly. Numb arms at night, swollen hands and numb fingers during the day. I had to wear my engagement ring round my neck yesterday afternoon.

I know the splints are meant to help but can take time. I've found cold water really soothing but very temporarily. I'm sleeping with my wrists straight.

I'm getting married in a week and a half. I really want my wedding band to fit. We already went up two sizes for general pregnancy swelling but I'm worried this on top will make my fingers too big. It's too late to go any bigger.

Does anyone have any tips for getting at least one finger to behave for a couple of hours?

Just use a temporary one, if it gets stuck you're in trouble and no point altering your permanent one for such a short few months.

I don't have any tips but was in this exact situation just 3 months ago. I was 38 weeks pregnant my engagement band had stopped fitting and my wedding ring was 2 sizes bigger already and a struggle to get on and off. I decided that we would force it on in the ceremony and I'd accept that most likely have to force it off later that day. I wore it one my little finger for the next two and a half weeks until a few days after baby was born and I could fit it back on. Though my engagement ring still doesn't fit. I found sleeping in wrist braces to be most helpful and stretching the wrist joint(YouTube has videos). Good luck and congrats!.

I would definitely say just use a temporary one. Ultimately, your ring is for the rest of your life. Don't stress about it fitting on your wedding day. I'd just make sure it fits you normally (not pregnant) as you don't want to be re-sizing constantly.

Same advice as above really! Doctor told me to sleep in wrist splints and then during the day don't wear them and just keep your hands raised and moving as much as possible so the fluid can drain and do exercises (google them!)

Good luck and congratulations on your wedding!!

Yeah don't risk your rings or fingers as the swelling can be dramatic and having to get them cut off your finger isn't fun (had mine cut off in April for seperate reason).
By all means get your rings blessed if it's a church wedding but even just buy a cheap one or Haribo ring (yes a friend did that!) To wear during day.

Thanks for the advice ladies.

Can I be grateful and still sulk a bit that no one has a magic trick to fix this? I was kinda hoping for advice to cling film my finger for half an hour and magic it small! 😊

I tried everything and was only able to do what I did above as I got married at 915am unfortunately

I've got til 3pm @mrkaykay so I can desperately do exercises til then! Maybe slip some Vaseline into the bestman's pocket!

Just grease that finger up!

mrkaykay · 03/03/2018 17:02

Did you get the ring on?

ClareB83 · 03/03/2018 23:45

Ah I'm so sorry I forgot to update!

Yes I got the ring on - thank you! In fact still wearing it a month later. Didn't even have to force it especially.

Some days the swelling is too bad for rings but on my wedding day I got a pass!

My engagement ring stopped fitting the day of the wedding though. Barely got it off before the ceremony. Hasn't been back on since. Hopefully after the boys are born I can get it back on. I'd like to wear the two together for the first time.
