Booking flight for unborn baby

Hi all

We are going to France in September with the in laws and will be flying to Nice. Baby due 10th June so will be between around 3 months old. Have read mixed things about booking a place with the airline for the baby who is currently unborn. Has anyone had experience of this? Does it depend on airline?

You need to find out which flight you want to book and then phone the airline to ask. It can differ depending on the airline.

We had to do this with DD. I was really disconcerted by it, as I wasn't buying anything for the baby at that stage! Flights were booked for baby xxx & just had to confirm names once she was born!! Give them a call, I'm sure your airline will be flexible & helpful Smile

We had already booked easy jet flight when we found out. Thet said just phone them up when baby arrives and they will add them on.

We had to do something similar with booking olympics tickets in 2012 when my son was unborn but would have been about 5 months when we went - it was disconcerting but it worked out fine

Second giving them a bell. Your insurance should cover any changes/cancellations anyhoos.

Incidentally I wish we had flown abroad multiple times before bubs was 6 months and crawling.
Pre 4 months when they're still immobile and sleeping a lot is perfect for hols!

Congrats, have a lovely time, and good luck with pregnancy, birth etc.

I would give them a call, as every airline does this differently.

We are flying to France in August for a wedding with RyanAir. We have had to book our flights as normal, and then call up and give them the babies details once he has been born.

My friend flew with another airline a few years ago, and had to book baby on at the same time she booked her flight. She made up a name and put the date of booking as D.O.B. She then had to call and amend the name and D.O.B once baby was born.

I did this with DD in 2016 flew with Ryanair to south of France booked flights in Jan and she was due March so they booked it as Baby (Surname) with her due date as date of birth and just told me to come back to them once she was born and they would change it for us so had correct name and DOB. Had no issues and all done free of charge!

I’m going to wait for booking my holiday til baby is here. Planing at least 2 holidays before baby is 6m old but I’ve suffered from anxiety all pregnancy and made me a worrier of everything.

I keep thinking what if something goes wrong with baby ? What if he needs to stay in nicu for longer and so and so. As my flights won’t be expensive (specially as babies only pay taxes ) I’d rather wait and book it all together.
