Exercise in first trimester

I'm nearly 7 weeks and am desperate to stay fit and healthy. I was very active pre-pregnancy but I am really struggling. I'm nauseous most of the time although get some respite when running. Is anyone else exercising but having cramps whilst doing so? I'm trying not to freak out at every single ache but I've got a history of recurrent miscarriage so it's hard.

Hi there,
Wow congratulations, I've got a history of miscarriages but I was advised to take 1 baby aspirin as had history of my blood clotting slightly during pregnancy and I now I have a healthy little girl 4.5 months. I use to go the gym but instead took up swimming and walking lots. I didn't do any vigorous exercise as I was worried also, but swimming especially in the last trimester was amazing and I had a very stressful busy job so use to go swimming in the morning before work and I felt so much better and relaxed. Now I need to start getting fit again Shock
Hope you have a smooth pregnancy x

I stayed active through both of my pregnancies (the first one more so, because I had more time), but it was mostly walking, spinning, swimming and yoga. I stopped running as it made me feel dizzy. I would listen to your body. If you're getting cramps when you run, it's your body's way of reminding you to take it easy. I would slow down to brisk walking if that eases the cramps. You'll stay plenty fit just with regular walks, yoga, etc. without doing anything too high intensity.

During my first pregnancy before I feel pregnant I was going to the gym 3 days a week I continued this as I actually found it did really help with my morning sickness, everything was fine and stayed active once I got bigger mainly just getting out walking a lot with hubby. I don't know though if the advise is different with recurrent miscarriages I was always told that if you did it before it should be fine and try to avoid anything to intense of strenuous impact wise!

Thanks all. I think I'll just take it on a day by day basis. I don't want to stop running yet but if I continue to get cramps when I run, I guess I'll have to.
