Swollen ankles - do I need to call triage?

I'm 34+5 and have been medicated for PIH since 16 weeks.

Apart from severe SPD I'm feeling quite well. Last night I noticed my ankles were a bit swollen. Tonight they're really obviously swollen with a very small amount of pitting.

Hands and face aren't affected.

This is my second pregnancy - in my first I was on the verge of PE at this point - medicated for PIH and a persistent + protein but no official PE diagnosis.

I'm seeing my consultant on 26th - in the absence of other symptoms can I wait this long? Or is it triage tonight? Or Day Assessment until tomorrow?

Any advice would be much appreciated.

I always think it’s better to be On the side of caution with these things esp as you have history of PE so I’d triage tonight or at least NHS111 for advice if you are still not sure. Hope you are ok.

NHS111. Could be PE. Best to get checked. Good luck.

Hope all is ok. I'm glad you're calling. I would also say with your history it's best to err on the side of caution and call as PE can develop so fast. I had pre eclampsia with my first pregnancy that developed suddenly and severely and was told this time to call in with any symptoms of it, even if I otherwise felt well.

Just to say I'm currently on a monitor and all seems ok.

I feel like I've overreacted but I suppose it's better to be sure.

BP fine and urine clear so looks like puffy ankles are just normal pregnancy ones.

I'm glad things are looking ok. You haven't overreacted - without all the equipment and knowledge that maternity triage have you can't tell if your blood pressure is creeping up or there's protein in your urine so it's better to be safe than sorry.
