Am I being unreasonable requesting a c section

I'm 26+4 with twins. Baby number 4&5. Baby 3 is only 15 months old and the labour was horrendous and I had to have an operation afterwards for piles 😖 and then a spinal operation when she was 3 months old. Touch wood my backs fine but the last few days I've had piles again. The pain took me right back to after I had dd and I thought that's it I am definitely having a c section and refuse to push out 2 babies and get piles and prolapse like before.
The hospital assume that if baby 1 is head down then I'd try for a natural labour. I didn't agree to this and have said I may opt for a c section and they all seemed a bit disappointed in me.
After pushing out 3 babies with no pain relief as the poxy epidurals failed and an unplanned twin pregnancy I feel just a tad fed up.
I seriously look full term and can't sleep as the babies are rib punching and the heartburn is also double shit.
Sorry went off topic, I just feel meh!!!

Not unreasonable at all! I am having an ELCS for far less than that and no one has argued or tried to dissuade me. Have you had an appointment to discuss it yet? I had a long (over an hour) one with a senior midwife where she went over the risk factors of both forms of delivery, then told me to go away and decide. Then I had an appt with a doctor who just asked what I wanted and wrote it down.

YANBU Do whatever makes you feel most comfortable. Good luck

DuggeeHugs · 15/01/2018 18:03

Definitely not unreasonable and they have no right to be disappointed with your decision about which is the best option for your delivery. Good luck.

BangPippleGo · 15/01/2018 18:06

Crickey your foof deserves a be. ELCS isn't exactly an "easy option" for you post-birth if you've other young children too so it's not as if you're doing it because you can't be bothered and think it's easier! The hospital have no right to be disappointed in your decision. Best of luck with it Flowers

*deserves a break

Yanbu!
I wish I'd had a section with my twins, but I was so young and no one even mentioned it as a possibility.

jcsc · 15/01/2018 18:26

Thanks for the replies, glad I'm not being unreasonable
I haven't had an appointment yet to discuss the c section
I feel like I need a break and I am quite nervous about having a c section and what the recovery will be like. X

You basically have to tell them that you’re having a c section and that’s that, otherwise they’ll put you off and jump through hoops to persuade you to have a natural (cheap) birth. My midwife tried to book me into the VBAC clinic at my 16 week appointment, but sneakily referred to it as something else. When I pulled her up on it she admitted it was actually to discuss VBACs. I told her that particular appointment wouldn’t be necessary. She then emailed the consultant to set up an appointment to discuss my ELCS! Grin

jcsc · 15/01/2018 21:10

I've requested a consultant appointment which the hospital said I needed to go via my midwife for. I've not heard anything yet and when I chased my midwife she said they will send me a letter Hmm
Maybe it's too early but I thought as twins tend to be early I may have heard!

I would press for the consultant appointment. I am requesting ELCS due to previous birth injuries and was referred via my community midwife. My consultant appointment is at 17 weeks.

jcsc · 15/01/2018 23:35

I'll chase the appointment tomorrow, thank you
Yes I've been worried sick about them coming early and having all sorts running through my mind. My first born arrived at 34 weeks the other 2 were 40 weeks and 38 weeks.
I didn't realise I just assumed if I went into early labour they would give me a c section Confused x

YANBU! Chase the midwife again and be firm. Not just 'I'm thinking about it' but 'I'm having a CS.' Can you chase down your notes from your spinal and colorectal surgeries? These are both very good reasons to have a CS but any reason is reason enough. REALLY push to see a consultant and then tell him/her, 'I'm here to talk about my CS for this birth.' I'd also see your GP about chasing up your notes from your two surgeries.

Kittykat93 · 15/01/2018 23:39

You are definitely not being unreasonable. I'll be requesting a c section for my next baby after a horrible first birth, although I'm fully prepared to have to fight for it. You know what's best for you, don't take no for an answer ! Good luck and congratulations Smile

Bez9087 · 16/01/2018 07:04

@jcsc I’m surprised your not already under a consultant with it being a twin pregnancy?
What type of twins are you having?
I’m 27+3 with non identical twins (own sacs and placentas) and I saw consultant at 20 weeks, then again at 24 with a scan and then due to see her again at 28, 32, 34, 36 weeks all with scans to monitor their growth etc so I’m very surprised your not already under one.
Iv requested section this time as had two previous difficult births (3rd degree tear with my son three years ago) so they had already told me may be difficult natural but is possible but I already told them I want an elective section.
Make sure you push for consultant it’s high risk pregnancy

jcsc · 16/01/2018 20:56

I am under a twin clinic at my local hospital they run on Thursdays and I have scans every 4 weeks but this is via the sonographer and not the consultant . I've seen an anaesthetist too to discuss pain relief as epidurals don't work and she had my notes from my Previous labours and conveniently the notes were half missing from the last one! She brushed it off and said it's not uncommon for things to be mis filed!
I had my spinal operation privately as I couldn't bare to wait the 18 months on the NHS I was in agony.
I've got non identical twins aswell, both in own sacs also with own placentas.
I was so busy at work today I forgot to get my notes out the car and call the midwife, only realised when I got in my car at the end of the day 😡. I've emailed myself a reminder to work to chase them tomorrow so I don't forget.
Apparently when I chased my midwife last time she said I was under a consultant and I will at some point see him. I'd like to know when this sometime will be

Yeah I would chase them. I have my growth scan at twin clinic then see the consultant straight after so always see them. To be fair sometimes it’s the actual consultant I’m under and other days one of her drs in her team. Xx
