Hi All
What absorbing box sets, films, programmes got or are getting you through the last uncomfortable weeks before birth? Daytime watching.

I'm big and round w a poor attention span. Recommendations very much appreciated!

On maternity leave and then in the early, sofa-bound baby days I rewatched all 7 series of the West wing. Today is my first day of maternity leave number 2 and DS is deciding between frozen and trolls. How things change...

ObiJuanKenobi · 15/01/2018 13:18

I watched every single episode of Desperate Housewives in the weeks before having my babies! I'd never enjoyed it before then but suddenly it became by whole life Grin

Orangedaisy · 15/01/2018 13:25

How about game of thrones? I couldn't manage it once DD was here as it's too gory (sleep deprivation and gory didn't work for me). The other suggestions are good for once baby is here as they're marginally more mindless.

ImAMarshmellow · 15/01/2018 13:29

Greys anatomy, desperate housewife's, happy valley, Chicago fire I like the firemen . I tried to watch silent witness but you need to actually pay attention for that to make sense. 24 is good, but again, you need to pay attention. I also watched jersey shore swiftly followed by Geordie shore Confused.
I was off during the Olympics last year. So I think I watched pretty much every televised event Grin.

Unihorn · 15/01/2018 13:33

I watched The Good Wife, The Mentalist and the new series of Gilmore Girls on my leave.

someblondegirl · 15/01/2018 13:54

Grace and frankie for me. Light, easy watching 😊

ClareB83 · 15/01/2018 14:05

Life in Pieces is great for a short attention span.

iwillbemummy · 15/01/2018 14:11

Another Grace and Frankie watcher here in the newborn sofa days as good short episodes. I did watch all the hunger games films pre baby and enjoyed them

SoulStew · 15/01/2018 14:15

Greys anatomy!

Rainshowers · 15/01/2018 14:24

Grin bluechamelon i feel your pain. DD is currently subjecting me to a varied viewing schedule of Blaze and the Monster Machines alternated with Trolls and the occasional Doc McStuffins! On my first mat leave I watched endless episodes of Bones and Greys Anatomy. How different this time round!

Potteryprincess30 · 15/01/2018 14:30

All the seasons of 'girls' will definitely kill a week in an amusing way. When I had morning sickness at the begining it got me through Grin

Potteryprincess30 · 15/01/2018 14:34

@someblondegirl Grace and Frankie is so right at anytime. Such a yes.

I'd also definitely advise Chelsea Handler, her Chelsea does is hilarious and interesting. Plus her chat show is on Netflix and can be binged with ease, the dinner party episodes are the best Smile

CoffeeAndCupcakes85 · 15/01/2018 14:34

Pretty Little Liars, Grey's Anatomy, The Good Wife, Damages...I've watched so much trash TV Blush.

user1493413286 · 15/01/2018 14:37

Good wife got me through a lot of feeds in the early baby days, particularly at night with no sound and subtitles.

kazzah29 · 15/01/2018 14:59

Recently watched the seven part series Big Little Lies starring Reese Witherspoon and Nicole Kidman, it was really good. I also love The Good Wife, West Wing and Breaking Bad. Oh, and Orange is the anew Black is good too.

Mummyloves09 · 15/01/2018 18:03

Walking dead, agents of shield, The 100, Taken all actioned based to keep you on your toes.
Something more relaxed and full of scandal The good wife, Madam secretary and mistresses.

MsP0b · 19/01/2018 23:07

Thanks for the suggestions! I've started with Grey's Anatomy and rewatching Friends on Netflix x

I'm a real nerd so have a whole load of Costume dramas lined up :) Also night work my way through Jane the Vjrgin. Can recommend Pretty Little Liars for just amazing bad trash tv watching. Also Gilmore Girls is fab :) I have How I met your Mother lined up for a rewatch during the start of labour too!

ReggaetonLente · 21/01/2018 11:15

I'm currently watching all of call the midwife on Netflix - entertaining and educational Grin

Kittypillar · 21/01/2018 11:43

Definitely watch Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt! It's hilarious but also still relatively easy watching :)

RedBlackberries · 21/01/2018 11:47

Orange is the new black is great. Got me through months of sickness last year. Now I'm reliving the friend's years Grin

Eminybob · 21/01/2018 11:50

I discovered Switched at Birth when on mat leave.
Don’t be put off by the premise, or the fact that it’s centred around teenagers, it’s actually really interesting, well acted and covers some sensitive topics. Plus you may pick up some sign language!
I think it’s a hidden gem.

thisradioactive · 21/01/2018 17:08

i just started watching star trek the next generation... who would have thought it?
also a bit off topic but yesterday i went to my local library and (after getting angry at the lack of community groups available) joined the reading group + so just trying out audible...

SS81C · 21/01/2018 18:55

I rewatched pretty much every episode of Morse, Lewis, Vera, DCI banks etc I could get my hands on.....
