Hi all!
I'm 29 weeks and last week I was prescribed flucloxacillin 500mg antibiotics for infected eczema its so sore on my face hands and neck! I was given it earlier this week by the practise nutse but terrified to take it! The practise nurse and pharmacist said its safe in pregnancy and breastfeeding but I'm still scared to take them in case it harms the baby.

I feel like I need someone to tell me its deffo infected but they haven't done swabs or anything so i feel like I need convincing as i don't want to take it when i don't need to! I know i'm been a weirdo!! Sorry for the ramble.
I will never forgive myself if it does anything to harm the baby. At the same time it's getting that sore I'm struggling in work as its very embarrasing and shreds during the day and is mega itchy. I've managed not to take any antihistimines or use steriod creams up to yet and I was using them everydaybeforw trying to concieve. Part of me thinks thats why it has got so sore now. If anyone can offer some advice or help i'd really appreciate it.
Thanks again xxx

I think you need to treat the infection before it gets worse tbh.
Your gp would not have prescribed antibiotics if they didnt think it was necessary.

Thanks for your reply :) I agree its getting uncomfortable. The trick is now i have to wait two hours for an empty stomach to take them which isn't very often as always eating!! Xx

Once you have got the infection sorted, you need a proper programme to keep the eczema under control.
Changing nappies and generally washing hands frequently is difficult with eczema, so it is worth trying to manage it now.
