Feeling kicks very low down... Please help!

Hi all! I am hoping someone can reassure me that everything is fine... I am currently 22 weeks pregnant and the last few days I have been feeling kicks very low down. I have been told I have an anterior placenta so I can't feel him kick when touching the bump but I can definitely feel it inside.

The kicks are that low down that it basically feels like he is kicking my cervix which is worrying. Someone mentioned that it may mean that the baby will be breached and this is what has worried me. Do you think the baby will move in the next 18 weeks? I am hoping that this is normal and that I'm not breached as I have been told that it is very dangerous for both mum and baby. I am a first time mum so I think (or hope) that I am worrying way more than necessary as it is all so new to me.

Has anyone here had the same sort of feeling when the baby is kicking? I just want to know that he is ok in there!

It's absolutely normal to feel kicks that low down. It might well be hiccups that you're feeling anyway. Are they one off feelings or quite rhythmic? You've got plenty of time for the baby to move round - he'll be flipping all over the place for months yet! If you want to encourage feeling a bit more movement, try drinking a glass of really cold water then lying on your left hand side. But honestly, it sounds completely normal for this stage of pregnancy.

I also have an anterior placenta and felt kicks low down at around 22 weeks (I’m almost 25 weeks now), on my 20 week scan they said he was breach but not to worry as he’s likely to move around a lot and it won’t mean he’ll be breach when he’s born (this was confirmed by a doctor friend of mine who said the same thing).

Doesn't sound like anything to worry about, baby has plenty of time to flip about before they're ready to make an entrance. The midwife should be able to tell nearer the time which way baby is laid so you shouldn't really get a 'surprise' breech baby.

Re the kicks, I'm almost 24 weeks and just the same, anterior placenta and I swear sometimes it feels like he's trying to fight his way out - really unpleasant!

Thank you everyone! It's a little all over the place at the moment... I don't think he has got himself into a routine yet so I get the feeling at very random times...

I know exactly what you mean about trying to fight his way out! That's exactly what I said to my partner when I was trying to explain it!

Thanks again everyone, it's definitely put my mind at ease and I am sure I will get use to it it's just a very new and weird feeling!

At 22 weeks they’re tiny and move all the time. They won’t worry about whether the baby’s breech until something like 36 weeks and even then they can still move (but it’s more difficult!). Don’t worry at all at this stage.

Just to add some perspective I gave vaginal birth to a breech baby at 36weeks. 5lbs 3

One of mine was a (excuse crudeness) 'cunt kicker'!

All normal, just very 'OUCH'!

ILoveDolly · 12/01/2018 21:56

One of mine kicked super low. It was painful. Funnily enough she was breech until the last min. Still an awkward bugger now and she's 8 Grin

I am just over 25 weeks with an anterior placenta. DD loves to boot me in the cervix, especially when I am sitting for long periods, eg driving. Don't worry x

I had a two scans in a 12 hour period during a hospital admission. 1st scan breech 2nd scan head down and then moved sideways infront of me at 26 weeks. Do not worry OP. Also have a anterior placenta.
