Chinese takeaway and food in general

Hi I’m new to these boards . I’m currently 7 weeks pregnant tomorrow and am really struggling to find things to eat that are all of the right nutrients. I’m not a big lover of meat but I do eat it . I’m snacking an awful lot and I’m starting to get a bit concerned it’s not right.i eat fruit and veg but some days I just don’t feel like eating my dinner so I’ll just pick instead.

I’m really fancying a honest takeaway .If I ordered a takeaway and it was hot but not piping hot could I whack it in the microwave - something like sweet and sour chicken ? Even thought it’s chicken . I don’t know about reheating it .

I’m constantly checking what I can and can’t eat and even thought I know to use the NHS guidelines I’m still worried I’m going to do something wrong.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Don't worry too much about what you're eating...as my mother in law says....there was no guidelines in the old days 😂
This is my 2nd pregnancy and I'm eating what I like (obviously not the stuff they recommend you don't eat!) I hardly ate anything up to 12 weeks because of nausea, I just picked at food.
You could always get some pregnancy vitamins if you're worried, but really just eat what you like. My first pregnancy I ate a lot of cereal and soup!

Thankyou for replying _ I’m taking the folic acid and vitamin d tablets . I’ve always picked at food really as I’m not a lover of big meals - I’m just terrified I might eat something wrong I guess .

Eat what you want when you want (just read the no fly zone NHS list for safety).

Rule of thumb for takeaway = NEVER REHEAT RICE.

Newcomer31 · 11/01/2018 19:42

Yeah I’ve read about the rice - I wouldn’t eat it a day after or anything.

So is the chicken ok to just whack in the microwave as soon as I get it - to make it piping hot if it doesn’t come like it ? I usually have that with plain noodles and I love vegetable spring rolls and chicken curry parcels but not sure if I can have them either ?!

Please calm down. There is very little you can't eat. You can eat most things. The list of what NOT to eat is very small.
Do you have anxiety?

Oblomov18 · 11/01/2018 19:51

You can eat all the things you listed and none of them need heating up.
Why would you think they do need to be?
This is not normal.

Kittykat93 · 11/01/2018 19:52

It's absolutely fine to reheat chicken. There aren't many things you need to avoid when pregnant, I just ate normally ! Smile enjoy your Chinese!

Newcomer31 · 11/01/2018 20:05

Sometimes the food comes and it may not be as hot as it should be during delivery from takeaway to me - I just wanted to know if I could whack it in the microwave to make it piping hot and it be ok

Yes, you can. But the point is that it has been piping hot when it was cooked, not when it gets to you. Microwaving it won’t make it any safer for you, but it will make it nicer to eat.

Oly5 · 11/01/2018 20:14

Yes you can make it hot in the microwave. Enjoy your Chinese.
It’s good to stick to the nhs guidelines but try not to worry too much. It is normal to worry.. especially if it’s your first pregnancy. Good luck with the pregnancy

gryffen · 11/01/2018 20:31

Don't worry as people have said The no eating list is quite small so if you fancy heating your meal up then go for it - just don't put metal in microwave 😂
(Yeah people do that)

It's all good, just enjoy and imho I would heat up the spring rolls and curry puffs in oven for later as booming hot insides are painful

BigBaboonBum · 11/01/2018 20:34

Just eat whatever you like. As long as you’re taking the vits you said. And don’t reheat rice

www.nhs.uk/conditions/pregnancy-and-baby/foods-to-avoid-pregnant/?

The link to the NHS website is your friend.

Other than wha is on there just eat what you would normally eat, or whatever you fancy now!

At this stage of your pregnancy none of what you eat is reaching the baby directly anyway.

Serafin87 · 11/01/2018 20:53

Just avoid foods likely to give you the 💩 try not to panic too much as your seven weeks you have a while to go, try to enjoy the pregnancy... That being said I worried about something new at each stage 😂 enjoy your takeaway!!

Newcomer31 · 11/01/2018 20:56

THanks everyone I appreciate it Smile
