Ganglion Cyst in Pregnancy - WARNING *Gross*

Has anyone ever had a Ganglion Cyst?
I have had one on my thumb for maybe 6 weeks, it is now HUGE!

Going to see GP for second time tomorrow to see if I can get it drained before baby arrives! (Due on 25th)

First GP Appointment basically went along the lines of...
"It will get bigger anything up to a golf ball, could drain it now, but is likely to come back"

It is now so angry and has doubled in size. There has been 2 occasions where it has "exploded" but only with blood not with the actual jelly like innards!

Has anyone had one? Were you pregnant?
And *how did you get rid of it?
*
Seriously scared of the draining tomorrow Sad

My dad hit his with a book.
I fell on mine lol

The method that worked for me was having the innards sucked out with a syringe and steroids (I think,) put back in. I had it done at the hospital. The local anaesthetic stung and as the innards decreased it felt sore. I didn't expect it to be sore at the end so it made me jump. A twisted ankle feels worse. Smile

Thanks @mrsBeverleyGoldberg

I'll be going through childbirth for the first time in a couple of weeks so all pain is good practice (that's what I'm telling myself)
Sad

Hi, I had one on my wrist and it was so awfully painful. It was inside the ligaments and wrapping around a bone! It wasn’t even big but it was so bad I couldn’t move my wrist properly. I ended up having it surgically removed under anaesthetic. That was almost a year ago. Now the bugger is coming back!! X

choccybiscuit · 11/01/2018 22:47

I have the same soon2be.i hsve one on each wrist wrapped around the bone making it hard to drain. I just get my dh to massage them when they're painful, put alit of pressure on it and it works for me.

Justgivemesomepeace · 11/01/2018 22:50

I had one and it was crushed under local anaesthetic and I was given a cortisone injection. It was about 20 odd yrs ago though!

PissedOffNeighbour · 11/01/2018 22:52

Whack with a bible!

Soon2BeMumTo3 · 12/01/2018 15:29

My doctor said don’t whack it with a book because it can damage the tendons and stuff and it will come back anyway. If it’s right inside deep down it has a cord that will just enable it to keep growing. They’re a right pain in the arse.

Draining was unsuccessful!
So back next week to have it cut out Confused

I've had it cut out too. It was sore because it was on my foot. It came back twice. The syringe thing stopped it. They don't always come back.
