Pain in bum/tailbone/underneath bump

Hi, I'm only 17 weeks pregnant so only have a little bump. The last few days I've started to really notice pain/discomfort in a few places, mostly when I'm sitting/laying in one position for a long time so normally at work as I work in an office, or in the middle of the night when I've been asleep for a few hours. The pain is generally mild-moderate but it varies, it can be either deep in my buttocks, or mild but uncomfortable around my tailbone, or on the underneath of my bump - yesterday at work I suddenly got really intense sharp pain all around the bottom part/underneath of my bump that made my eyes water and I panicked. But every time I move about and stretch a bit, the pain always quickly goes away or at least reduces, so I'm assuming it's just muscles or ligaments. Is this pelvic girdle pain? Should I be speaking to GP or midwife about this? I'm going to try and make sure I move about more often at work - tbh I'm quite good at that anyway but clearly I need to be doing it even more now I'm pregnant, but I can't do anything when I'm asleep in the middle of the night. Will this continue to get worse as my bump gets bigger? I am trying to do some stretches every day at home too, will that help in the long run?

I'm not even halfway through my pregnancy but had HG which is easing off but still vomiting a couple of times a day on bad days and now I've got all this pain too, I really cannot wait for this all to be over with!! Sad

Could be number of things.
Might be worth getting GP to check your wee.
Could also be pelvic discomfort due to hormones or early pelvic girldle pain.
Or simply but painfully ligaments.

Yeah I would say it might be a UTI or something so best to get checked by GP

I had this from sitting on the (very hard) sofa of a friend of mine regularly. It was agony! Completely stopped when they got a new sofa! It might be a bruised coccyx if you are sitting back on it, can you try sitting forward to ease pressure from it. It is a common pain in pregnancy but building up your glutes will give you some protection from bruising! If the actual bone doesn’t feel sore or painful, though, it’s probably something else and worth checking out.

I don't think it's a UTI as have had two before and had awful pain when urinating and blood in urine but appreciate that different infections could maybe cause different symptoms. I do pee more often now than before and occasionally find it feels a bit difficult to empty my bladder properly so it's possible.

Since I woke up this morning I had the discomfort mostly deep in each buttock and then since I went to work in the afternoon that went away and I got the pain around my tailbone, I'd only been sitting in my chair about half an hour before I noticed it and had to spend about 20 minutes standing towards the end cos it was too bad to sit in my chair anymore Confused!

I think I will book a GP appt just to have it checked. Was thinking of maybe buying some kind of special cushion to sit on?

Could it be your work chair? I had very similar pain but when I stopped sitting on a certain chair the pain went away. Hope you feel better soon.

My SPD started with intense pain in the tailbone, worse when standing up from sitting - it used to make me feel sick it was so intense. I'd have a word with your midwife at your next check-up, maybe an SPD support belt would help?

Hope you get it sorted soon Flowers
