Raspberry leaf tea

I’ve started drinking raspberry leaf tea and finding it disgusting!
I’ve been reading up on different ways to drink it and heard it’s nicer cold.

Was thinking I might try it with orange juice and I know this is a stupid question but would that affect the properties of the tea or will it still do the same job?

How are you drinking it? I have the loose leaf tea which is meant to be more effective I think (just pure raspberry leaves) and find the taste really nice.
Sorry I don’t know the answer to your actual question but guess by watering it down you’d be diluting the effect.

You can also get capsules from Holland and barratt if that’s any help. I drink around 5 cups a day sometimes more the taste isn’t the best but ya suppose to help ease labour weather that’s true or not we will see in the next week. Good luck mums!

I have it in tea bags from Holland and Barrett. I’d try the capsules but I’ve heard that they’re less effective. I may just have to suck it up lol

Thanks for your responses! Good luck to you both xxx

I love the taste Blush

I've heard of people making the tea, letting it cool and adding fruit juice (orange, blackcurrant etc) or even adding in some honey to improve the flavour. I think it might dilute it a little, but would still be better than having none so it's worth trying if you fancy it!

I used to love it!

sometimes i drink it just for nostalgia. its like unsweet hot ribena!

Mrstobe90 · 09/01/2018 15:48

I tried chugging it and ended up gagging lol
I’m going to try it iced with a tiny bit of juice tomorrow.

I think it’s just one of those things you have to grin and bear through haha! Personally I don’t think the taste is that bad but I drink it so quickly just gives me a little bit of a dry throat

I just got some. Is the consensus that it’s fine to drink from second trimester? I’m 14 wks.

Mrstobe90 · 10/01/2018 06:49

You’re not supposed to start drinking it until 32-35 weeks. It works by strengthening the muscles of your uterus and as your uterus naturally contracts and relaxes on a daily basis (without us even knowing), it can cause miscarriage in early pregnancy. Please don’t start using it until third trimester

My midwife told me to wait until 37 weeks. I took the capsules and DD2 arrived at 39+6 which worked for me.

titsbumfannythelot · 10/01/2018 07:07

You could maybe try honey in the tea?

Mrstobe90 · 10/01/2018 23:27

I tried it iced with orange juice in it.
The orange juice made literally no difference but having it cold made it much easier to drink. I think this’ll be the way forward from now on :)

Thanks for your tips everyone!

@Mrstobe90 Good luck- here's hoping it works for us! Xx

It’s a load of bollocks, plus it tastes like shit. Save yourself the bother and have a faal love.

Personally I think raspberry tea don't do anything to bring on labour or make it easier. If you want to help labour start then going for walks (as much as you can walk at this stage) is much more helpful. However if the taste is horrid then just drink it neater ( quicker to drink that way) or get capsules instead.
