I'm supposedly 40 weeks pregnant tomorrow, and due to see my midwife for a S&S, but I'm feeling very anxious about it as I don't think it'll work/she'll be able to do it. I have had no twinges, pains or anything really, just feeling huge and uncomfortable all the time (back ache, restless legs, not sleeping etc) My original due date was the 14th January, but was changed to the 9th. I'm worried they'll let me go over until then, but I don't want them to. Any advice/help on what to do or how to stop worrying would be appreciated!

The last few weeks are the worst aren't they for being uncomfortable, fed up and anxious. Especially on your first.
I think restless legs, back ache and lack of sleep are totally normal.
Why did they change your date? Have a chat to the midwife about your concerns about the date.
Why are you having a s&s at 40 weeks? You used to be allowed to go over. But I haven't had a baby for a while so it might have changed!
Just try to chill although it's hard I know. Maybe meditate if thats your thing, gentle yoga, practice breathing / relaxation for birth. Go for nice walks - but not too far :)
Good luck.

They changed my due date as I was further along than what I thought, and baby was measuring bigger too. They offer everyone a S&S at 40 weeks now I think, but I also think it is optional too. I do yoga regularly and I do find it helps, and I try and go for a walk everyday too.
Thank you Smile

You have the same due date as I had (2 years ago) my due date was moved back too from what I'd worked out.

Just because you aren't feeling any signs doesn't mean you haven't started to dilate even just slightly. I had a sweep with both of my children and it was fine, don't worry about it. Backache was actually a sign for labour a week or so before it happened with both my children too, so you are having some signs even if you don't realise it.

Try not to worry about it too much, just focus on relaxing and getting as much rest as you can for the big day, good luck xx

I was offered a sweep at 40+1 weeks, I declined this as my due date had been changed a couple of times so I didn't feel it was necessary. At 41 weeks I had a sweep but was eventually induced at 42 weeks (their dates). I don't think going over my dates bothered me as I wasn't particularly uncomfortable, I was still sleeping fine etc. I was hoping nature would step in! All I can say is try and relax ( sorry not helpful!)

My midwife said I can't have a s+s till 40+12
