Hi there all.
There is so much conflicting advice out there, I am in need of real people advice. Baby due April and we have been lucky enough to have been given a John Lewis cot. We were given the mattress as well, well two mattress as one seems to be for cot and one for cot bed, which I need to work out.... but my question is about mattress. I know it's advisable to buy new mattress for cot, but where do I start?foam, pocket sprung? Please help with you advice experience etc. We are on tight budget, but want to buy the right thing!

From what I've been told it is advisable to buy a new mattress... Or baby is due in March we have the moses basket but haven't bought the mattress yet. Too many choices.. Family member who last used the basket didn't get a new mattress for it as she was using a sleepy head in it on top of it anyway so that might be another option!

Yes best to get a new one - if your cot is not a standard size you can get one made custom from the little green sheep Smile

take measurments (normal for cot is 120x70) and look online etc for baby stores who sell them (we have Pramcenter in glasgow).

ours is memory springs (no metal springs, just the memory foam helix) and when we changed to a bed our IKEA bed comes with a double mattress to grow when you adjust the bed.
