Hi all
I am sorry for yet anither baby names thread but i would love to know your opinions on the name Amos.
I think this is the name we are going to go for as it suits siblings Iris, Eli and Pearl well and it has been my favourite for ages - and dh has finally agreed.
So opinions would be great - could it be classed as trendy or faddy? this is something i am trying to avoid in the sibset as a whole.

Thanks everyone

seems quite old fashioned to me, but if you like it and have decided then go for it, don't ask for opinions!

Piffle · 25/04/2007 13:52

I love it
Wanted it for DS but dp hated it
Tis a cool name infact one of the lasses in our march 07 ante natal (now all post natal ) called her ds Amos too!
There is an Iris and Pearl at dd's pre school

WigWamBam · 25/04/2007 13:52

It puts me in mind of the old boy in Emmerdale - which puts me off it rather!

But if you like it then that's what matters. I don't think it's a trendy name at the moment; there certainly aren't any at dd's school.

nogoes · 25/04/2007 13:52

I think it is quite trendy. I personally wouldn't choose it but if I heard someone call their ds by that name I would probably think that it was quite nice. I think it goes well with your dc's names.

Furball · 25/04/2007 13:53

I like it

ScottishThistle · 25/04/2007 13:54

I like it...One of my friends Uncles is an Amos, Italian & very attractive!

nailpolish · 25/04/2007 13:54

reminds me of Emmerdale

not my cup of tea

but why shouldyou care what others think anyway??

clarahj · 25/04/2007 14:07

I dont exactly care what others think as we are going to go for it regardless - i am quite excited as i have been stressed out about this and we are not telling anyone on the real world the name, so i wanted to share it (Jessica if you are reading this dont say anything!!!!!!).
As we are not telling anyone i think it is aswell to check for some opinions just to make sure i havent overlooked any obvious reasons why i should not choose the name.
Thanks for responses everyone.

deffo agricaultural and thick

geekgrrl · 25/04/2007 14:11

I like it, neither trendy nor faddy (but then I don't watch TV so don't know about soap characters)
goes really well with the other names

Puppie · 25/04/2007 14:28

Love Amos! Not religious but I love biblical names. If I have a boy he's going to be called Seth. I think its cool but not faddy. Eli is a great name too.

Chocolateface · 25/04/2007 14:30

I wouldn't choose it, but it does go well with the siblings. Can't think of any reasons not to use it.

beckmo · 25/04/2007 14:33

I think Amos is lovely and goes really well with all your other names. Thought about calling baby to be Seth and got the Emmerdale comments too...these characters left ages ago so anyone who says that is just showing their age!

Puppie · 25/04/2007 14:36

I wouldn't worry about TV characters 'cause theres bound to be someone on some programme or other with the same name. Obviously if something like Jordan then thats a different matter!

clarahj · 25/04/2007 14:36

Porcupine - funnily enough my father is a farmer and does have a combine (he is however not the slightest bit thick - he is a very intelligent and well read man).
Maybe little Amos will inherit a combine harvester and therefore the name will suit him perfectly.

i think its very cool and goes well with your dcs names. go for it! bet you wont meet many others with that name!

hunkermunker · 25/04/2007 14:55

Fine, unless your surname is Keeto.

bundle · 25/04/2007 15:03

I quite like it. I also like Clem and Kit, if you're after shorter names.

LaDiDaDi · 25/04/2007 20:23

I like it but personally I don't think that you've avoided trendy/faddy.

Ambi · 25/04/2007 21:47

reminds me of the amish? - hey if you like it then that's all that matters
