Grinsome of the replies have made me laugh!! Just avoid alcohol, pate and unpasteurised cheeses and you'll be okay OP. But watch out for the shark infested custard!!

demirose87 · 07/01/2018 18:17

I agree OP. Sometimes you can't win on here. If you had asked if it was ok for you to drink a glass of wine in pregnancy you would have been flamed with the same kind of sarcastic, know it all comments.

pastabest · 07/01/2018 18:20

No she wouldn't demi as there is a genuine debate to be had regarding alcohol in pregnancy, and one that is had often on mumsnet with a wide range of views.

The same cannot be said for custard.

lookingforthecorkscrew · 07/01/2018 18:29

Foetal Custard Syndrome is a very serious condition, I’ll have you know!

demirose87 · 07/01/2018 18:32

See, there's no need for patronising smug comments. Yes it seems silly to the rest of us, but it's OP's first pregnancy. I worried about needless things with my first. She only asked whether it was safe.

mogulfield · 07/01/2018 18:32

I went round to someone’s for dinner and he served a cheesecake to everyone but me, because I couldn’t have it as I was pregnant? The false information about what women can and can’t eat/do does my head in.
I’ve been told I can’t have goats cheese (I can), I can’t have caffeine (I can up to 200mg), and I must be able to maintain a conversation whilst exercising (no evidence to back this up what so ever).
Why is it science comes to die regarding pregnancy?

mogulfield · 07/01/2018 18:33

And I’m not having a go at the Op, it’s the false info that gets me. Not people asking! Ask away- your custard is fine Smile now I really want custard!!

lookingforthecorkscrew · 07/01/2018 18:34

Literally all it takes is reading that NHS page about diet in pregnancy. And being able to understand it.

peppapigwouldmakelovelyrashers · 07/01/2018 18:34

What's wrong with women asking other women what's ok in pregnancy? First time mums like myself are new to this! People need to get outta there ass and stop being so god damn rude!

Because you need to cop on and think for yourself. Are you going to ask every time you eat something? Packet of crisps, is this safe?

It's a tin of custard. Of course you can eat it. You can eat 20 raw eggs if you like, if you're in the UK and they are from a shop!

dementedpixie · 07/01/2018 18:34

There are some goats cheeses that should be avoided i.e. mould ripened ones. Others are ok

mogulfield · 07/01/2018 18:41

pixie indeed, or unpasteurised goats cheese, which is all they seemed to do in France on my holiday... but in this country most seems pasteurised. I bloody love the stuff so made sure I did my research! I was not going to take ‘no you can’t have it’ lying down without a thorough investigation!

toxitears181 · 07/01/2018 19:37

Thanks @demirose87 your the only lady that's truly helped thankyou for being considerate 😊 as for everyone else go bitch and be sarcastic somewhere else.

NorthernLurker · 07/01/2018 19:41

I think it's fair enough to question why the op has asked this. It's custard in a tin with no egg! Why would it be a problem ?

CrabbyPatty · 07/01/2018 19:46

I'm new to Mumsnet - I signed up the other day when my husband was away and pregnancy hormones kicked in for some moral-support. This thread has been really disappointing. What horrible attitudes some of you have :(

peppapigwouldmakelovelyrashers · 07/01/2018 19:46

perhaps you would prefer netmums?

Oblomov18 · 07/01/2018 19:50

Eh? What an odd question. What would make you doubt it? Hmm

toxitears181 · 07/01/2018 20:37

Me too @CrabbyPatty I didn't know people could get so sarcastic and cocky about a tin of custard! Xxx

pastabest · 07/01/2018 21:15

out of interest what were you planning on having the custard with?

Rebeccaslicker · 07/01/2018 21:30

Of course it isn't safe.......

Custard isn't safe for anyone to eat, for the simple reason that it's absolutely disgusting and should be banned and replaced with chocolate immediately Wink
